Chapter 33

When Ben opens his eyes the next morning, the first thing he sees is Joe curled up against his chest. With a big smile the blond grabs his phone from the nightstand, opening Instagram to kill some time. It is almost a quarter past nine, which means they have about 45 minutes left before they have to be at the police station.
After scrolling through his feed for a few minutes, Ben puts his phone away again. Instead he starts playing with Joe's ginger hair, smiling widely at the sleeping boy.
After a while, the peaceful silence hanging in the room is broken by an alarm going off.
Quite startled by the sudden sound, Ben sits up straight.
With a loud groan, Joe wakes up from the noise as well. He sits up, grabs his phone, and turns off his alarm. 'S-sorry, did my alarm wake you up?' The ginger asks, rubbing his eyes. 
Ben shakes his head. 'I was already awake. I just wanted to let you sleep for a while.' He says, giving him a smile.
Joe shows him a sleepy smile. 'That's sweet. I set the alarm yesterday because I wanted to be awake in time to come along to the police station.' He says with a blush on his cheeks. He crawls a little closer to Ben's body, and lets his head rest on the boy's chest.
Ben smiles widely, and puts his arm around the boy. Then the sound of an incoming message fills the room. Ben grabs his phone, checking who messaged him. 'How about breakfast? Gwil texted me that he and Rami are already in the breakfast room.'
Joe stretches out with a yawn, and nods. 'Yeah, let's go.' He mumbles.
The two get out of bed, brush their teeth, fix their hair, and go down. With the stairs this time.

In the breakfast room, they see Gwil and Rami sitting in a corner, who are already halfway through their breakfast.
'Hey guys, slept well?' Joe asks cheerfully.
Rami and Gwil nod, laughing at Joe's good mood.
'Why are you two awake so early? We are practically having vacation.' Ben asks laughing.
Gwil chuckles softly. 'I'm going to pick up Lina from the train station in a minute. She'll be there in fifteen minutes, I think.' He says before he takes a bite of his sandwich.
'And I wanted to be awake when you get back from the police station.' Rami says to Ben. Then he turns to Joe. 'I tried to wake you up too, but no matter how hard I knocked on your hotel room door, sir wouldn't wake up.' He says.
The ginger immediately starts to blush. 'Oh uhm yeah, I'm just a solid sleeper, I guess.' He stammers, looking at Ben.
The latter shoots him a wink. 'Joe goes with me to the police station.' Ben tells. When he sees the smirk on the faces of Gwil and Rami, he gently nudges Joe in the side. 'Are you coming with me to get breakfast?'
Joe nods with bright pink cheeks. 'Uhm, y-yeah, let's go.' He stammers.
Ben smiles at him before he and Joe walk towards the buffet.
'If those to slept together last night I'm gonna scream.' Rami says with a serious face, watching Ben and Joe walking away.
Gwil shrugs. 'I wouldn't rule it out.' He says before walking away to get ready to leave for the train station.

Just over an hour later, Joe and Ben walk out of the police station.
Ben breathes in the fresh air to calm down a bit, letting everything sink in.
'Are you okay?' Joe asks with a gentle smile.
Ben nods. 'Yeah. It feels good to know we're going to be protected and they're going to arrest Corey. I hope they find him soon.' He says, trying to show Joe a little smile.
'They will, I'm sure of that.' Joe says reassuringly.
'Thanks for coming along.' Ben says softly, taking Joe's hand in his own.
Joe smiles, feeling his heart glow at the feeling of their hands locked together. 'Always, remember?'
Ben chuckles softly. 'Still. Thank you.' He says before checking his watch. 'It is almost eleven o'clock. Should we head back?' He asks. 
Joe smiles and nods. 'I think we should. Let's go and meet Lina.' He says with a big smile.
Ben nods. And so he and Joe walk back to the car, their hands still locked together.
In the car on their way to the hotel, Joe notices that Ben is already a lot more relaxed than on the way there. He smiles reassured at the boy, glad things are getting better.

When they enter the hotel, Ben gets a message from Gwil. 'Lina's already here.' He says to Joe, reading the message out loud. 'They are now in Gwil's hotel room.'
Joe nods. 'Well let's go then. I bet I'll be up the stairs before you.' He says teasingly.
'Is that a challenge Mazzello?' Ben asks with a grin.
Joe crosses his arms with mischievous smile.
And before Ben realizes, Joe runs off. 'Hey! Come here you cheater!' Ben yells as he runs after him.
When Joe gets upstairs first, he runs to Gwil's room. He taps the door with a thump, to let Ben know that he is the first to arrive.
A few seconds later, Ben also comes running. He leans his hand against the wall to catch his breath. 'You cheater.' He says panting.
The door opens, and a puzzled Gwil is standing in the doorway. 'What happened?' He asks while looking questioningly at Ben and Joe.
'I've been defeated by a blanket. That's what happened.' Ben grunts when he has regained his breath.
Joe looks at him with a big grin. 'I told you I'd be upstairs sooner.'
Ben gives him a playful nudge. 'Yeah because you cheated yes.' He says.
Joe rolls his eyes with a smile. 'This blanket is just smart. Admit it.' He says with a shrug.
Meanwhile, Rami has come to stand next to Gwil. He also followed the conversation in amazement. 'I don't get it anymore.' He says with a confused look.
'Blanket?' Gwil looks questioningly at Ben and Joe.
'Long story.' Ben mutters as he walks past the two of them into the room.
'A very nice story though.' Joe says with a smirk on his face before he follows Ben into the room.
Rami and Gwil look at each other in confusion.
'Weirdo's.' Gwil says with a laugh.
Rami nods in agreement.

Inside, the friends see a girl sitting on the couch. She gets up and gives them a nice smile.
'Joe, Ben, this is my girlfriend Lina.' Gwil says proudly. He walks over to her and gives her a kiss on the cheek.
She takes a step forward and holds out a shy hand to Joe. 'Hi, I'm Lina. I've heard a lot about you all from Gwil.'
Joe smiles. 'Hi Lina, my name is Joe.' But instead of shaking her hand, he hugs her. 'A friend of Gwil's is a friend of ours.' He says with a smile when he lets her go.
Gwil immediately frowns. 'Whoa whoa whoa. And a girlfriend of mine is a girlfriend of yours?' He asks Joe.
The ginger giggles softly. 'No, don't worry Gwil.'
Rami nods in agreement. 'Yeah, you have nothing to worry about. Joe is only focused on Ben anyway.' He says with a smirk.
With red cheeks, Ben turns to Lina to introduce himself and hug her.
Gwil smirks at the red faces of his two friends. 'You really have to tease them like this huh?' He whispers to Rami.
The latter nods. 'Yep.'

When Gwil has poured a drink for everyone, they all sit down on the couch.
After Ben and Joe told everyone how things went at the police station, things fall silent for a moment.
'So Lina, Gwil said you guys want to tell us some important news?' Ben asks curiously.
Lina nods and takes Gwil's hand.
'Well, actually we have two things we want to tell you.' Gwil says with a big smile and twinkling eyes.
'Let's just start with the first one.' Lina says to Gwil.
The tall boy nods. The curious faces of his friends only make it more exciting to tell.
