My mother walks into my room and looks at me with rage. Shutting the door behind her, she walks over to me.

"Madison I've just about had it with you."

I stare at her blankly.

"You're nothing but a child, a dumb air headed child and you're too blind to see what the hell you're doing!" She raises her voice.

Keep your emotions aside Madison. Don't let her see you crying.

My fathers voice replays in my head. And I hold back.

"Now you have nothing to say huh?

"No mother..-"

"Shut up." she snaps.

I do as she says.

"You're going to learn one way or another. As long as you're living with me, you obey my rules. And rule number one? You are to never..speak...to him...again." She says slowly.

My eyes start to sting and I feel the tears starting to form.

"Oh so now you want to cry? I'll give you a reason to cry."

And right before I can stop it, she backhands me.

"If you don't clean your act together, you'll get more where that came from."

And once again, another backhand to the same cheek.

I hold back everything. Just wait until she leaves Madison.. just one more minute. She turns to walk out, and stops when she sees my notebook turned to a page with Nathan's name on it. It was the draft of the letter I sent him way back.

She throws the notebook at me as the edges hit my leg harshly, and the paper stinging my skin causing me to hiss in pain.

"That'll be the last time I hear from him again. This was your only warning Madison. Don't ever lie to me."

She slams the door and I hear her go downstairs taking the keys with her. A few moments later, I hear the car driving away.

And with that, I cry. It isn't because I was in pain physically, no. It's because I'm tired. I'm drained, and fed up with everything she's doing to me. But I have to suck it up and move on.

I walk to my bathroom and check my cheek. It was already bloodshot red, and swelling up badly. It really didn't help that she still had her wedding ring on. I examine my leg and see the same swelling beginning to form. This sorta reminds me of what my ex did to me. The tears keep blurring my vision, so I wash my face with cool water. These shouldn't be hard to cover it with makeup.

I try to put on concealer to blend my natural skin tone, but it hurts to even touch it.

There's no use, its badly swelled up so I'll just get some ice and apply pressure before going to my fathers house. As I pack my purse, Donavin walks in the room.

"Hey what's up?" He asks.

"Nothin, goin to dads house."

"Ah trying to get away from mom huh."

"You have no idea." I sit on my bed and sigh.

"I heard about what happened Maddie, I'm really sorry." He sits beside me.

"It's alrigh, I'll be okay." I whisper weakly, trying to force a smile.

I fail terribly.

"Maddie, if you want you can use my phone and log on to kik to be able to talk to Nathan."

Why is he being so nice?

"What's the catch?" I ask cautiously.

"No catch, I just know you two deserve to be together. And to be honest, mom is wrong about this."
