Kailani sat on her brother's bed, looking at the large banner casted across his bedroom wall. Burt had already talked to her privately about the new living arangements, making the choice with Carole to leave her room alone and have Finn move into the large basement with Kurt.
She wasn't the happiest camper in regards to how fast their parents were moving, but Carole had been nice and they were working on their relationship with one another, surprisingly having more in common than Kailani had originally hoped. It's surprisingly a lot harder to dislike someone that also understands losing a mother at a young age and enjoys Twilight for more than Edward and Bella's toxic relationship.
"Is there a car down here for me?" Finn asked, walking down the stairs with his eyes closed, Carole leading him every step of the way.
Kailani couldn't help the quiet chuckle that escaped her chest at the question. She had become a lot closer with Finn since their parents started dating, complaining to him about a lot, but also spending some time with him and Carole when the boy invited her over to play video games or work on assignments for glee club...or copy her homework for their biology class.
"Honey, we're indoors." Carole frowned, as Finn pouted.
"Oh."
"And open your eyes!" Carole cheerfully said, waving her hand towards where Kurt and Burt were standing in front of the banner, Kailani a few feet away sitting crisscrossed on the bed, all with little sparkling cider glasses.
"Sparkling cider?" Kurt smiled, offering him a glass, ignoring Finn's terrified look as he looked from the 'Welcome Home!' banner to Kailani, who was gingerly sipping her drink like it was real alcohol.
"Welcome home?" Finn asked, confused. "But-But who went somewhere?"
"Oh, boy." Kailani mumbled, as Burt sent her a quick look.
"Burt asked us to move in with them!" Carole explained, hugging Kurt quickly as she moved to join the Hummels, kissing the top of Kailani's head as she passed her, before hugging her boyfriend's waist.
"And this is how you're telling me?" Finn asked, blinking and looking in a panic to Kailani. He frowned when she could only give him a shrug, smiling sympathetically.
"Don't look over here." She mumbled, shaking her head. "I suggested a warning dinner."
"The party was my idea." Kurt jumped in, taking Finn's glare off of his sister the second he noticed Carole and Burt's faces drop. "If you're gonna say something, say it loud, right?"
