A/N: There will be some major character changes, dynamics, and more shown in this season, if you haven't put them together yet, so please don't be alarmed. Again, I don't follow canon as closely as others might, so don't be alarmed!

Vaughn's knee bounced anxiously as she sat around a bar pushed up to a hibachi grill.

She had tried to gain some attention by going to a restaurant she had been to before, but Holden was more intelligent than that. Somehow, she found herself sitting between Holden and Hunter, dressed in something she'd usually never wear.

They were smart. She'd give them that. Holden changed everything he could to keep her identity concealed. He wasn't letting her out of his sight, and Vaughn wasn't given many chances to speak on her own.

"What are you wanting to do after high school?" Hunter asked, sipping his drink and watching Holden slip his arm over the back of Vaughn's chair to block her from a few people walking by. "Do you swim like your Mom?"

"No." Vaughn shook her head and played with the hem of her cardigan. "I, um, I like art."

"Cool." Hunter smiled when Vaughn offered him her attention. "You paint?"

"Sorta." Vaughn glanced around and tried to map out the area as she thought through her plan of action. She needed to somehow get away from them for a second to alert anyone there was something wrong. "I like to draw and sing."

"Yeah? That's cool." Hunter chuckled when Vaughn nodded and played with her straw. "I think I heard you on your mom's album at one point."

"Yeah." Vaughn hummed. She tensed when Holden pulled her a bit closer and smiled at her. "What do you want?"

"Isn't this nice?" Holden asked, motioning between himself and his father. "You, me, our dad. Lunch out with the family."

"Where's your mom?" Vaughn asked, frowning when Holden's lips pressed together. "You're older than my older sisters."

"She went to high school with your moms. They were friends, I think." Holden produced a sad smile for Vaughn's curious eyes. "She gave me up when I was born."

"It was for the best." Hunter muttered when Vaughn looked in his direction. "We were young, Viper."

Holden smirked a bit when Vaughn's eyes widened to hear her nickname from their biological father. He relaxed into his chair as the chef pulled his cart up to their stove top and smiled at Vaughn.

"How did you and my mom..." Vaughn chewed on her bottom lip, focusing on Hunter. "My Momma doesn't like you."

"She's never liked him." Holden chuckled and ruffled Vaughn's hair. "Our parents dated in high school and Quinn ruined it."
