The world was beginning to slow down away from the quickened rotation that had set around Kailani's slow burning heart.

The pain in her chest still ached deep in her heart, but she found that distracting herself between her NYADA classes, Beth, the band, and the school musical was something she could handle as long as she didn't think too much about Quinn.

Kailani figured the pain that lingered was a punishment of some sort for breaking up with her soulmate when they had four kids running around the present time period like there wasn't going to be a future together.

She had kept in loose contact with Quinn in hopes of checking in on her and healing both the pain they felt, but then a month came and went of no response from the blonde ex-cheerleader she fell in love with and all Kailani could do was hope she was alright.

But Kailani chose not to think too much of the fact Quinn didn't contact her besides sending Sonnet his Bark Box monthly for 'child support', figuring if she was happy or working on herself in private, then maybe pushing her away was what's best.

Even though it burned her insides to a crisp with everything she did.

"Excuse me, Mx. Hummel. Heading out of town?"

Kailani gasped in surprise, spinning around in the middle of the airport and instantly smiling when she spotted a face full of freckles behind her. She motioned Sonnet between her legs and clutched the straps of her book bag with a soft chuckle.

"Following me, Mr. Striker?" She asked, tilting her head and breathing a soft sigh as the boy stepped forward and kissed her cheek.

"Copper said you were taking a trip this week back to Lima for the musical. Thought I'd tag along and see how it turned out." Clyde offered, motioning to the duffle bag over his shoulders. "Already recorded my parts earlier and I know you did yours over the weekend, so Roxy's staying to finish up. Regroup next week."

"It's just a high school musical, Cly." Kailani reminded him. "It doesn't mean much. Don't waste the money."

"Not a waste." Clyde stepped forward, wrapping an arm around Kailani's waist and kissing her cheek again. "And it means something to you. So it means something to me. Can't scare me off that easily, babe."
