The last few weeks had been a nightmare.
Despite everything that happened the last few weeks for her partner, Quinn could see Kailani fading away once again. Smiles disappearing and reappearing like a rollercoaster, irritation growing, mood shifting, and overwhelmed behavior bringing along her inability to touch her or un-cling Kailani from her side.
Not that she would ever do that to Kailani to begin with.
In fact, Quinn had been trying to keep a close eye on Kailani, especially when she noticed the little changes becoming more drastic.
Like this morning.
"Angel." Quinn called towards Kailani from where she was leaning in the doorway of the bathroom, eyes looking over her jean's waistband. "Are those your jeans from Christmas?"
"Yeah. Does it not look okay?" Kailani asked, looking down and frowning as she brushed off her grey sweater over her white button up.
"It's...It's a little big." Quinn pointed out, crossing the room and pinching the fabric to confirm there was much more left of the waistband. She looked up and frowned when Kailani avoided her eyes with a soft shrug. "Kailani..."
"It's been big. Not a big deal. I have a belt." Kailani excused herself, moving out of Quinn's grip and grabbing her belt off the back of the door, quickly moving to snake it through her belt loops.
"You've lost weight." Quinn shook her head, letting her hands fall to her hips. "How much weight have you lost? We have to watch for this."
"I don't know. Not a big deal." Kailani shrugged, continuing to keep herself busy as she made her way to the sink and began taking out the pills she was supposed to take before school. "I'm eating."
"Are you throwing up after though?" Quinn asked, watching Kailani's hands carefully.
"I'm fine." Kailani forced a chuckle, taking a small cup of water and taking her medication with a quick turn to leave the bathroom.
"How about we go to breakfast then?" Quinn followed after her partner, concerned eyes following her quick movements across the room, doing random tasks she absolutely didn't need to be doing.
They're pacing.
Kailani's nervous.
"Waffle house? Your favorite?" Quinn continued.
Kailani turned and hummed, nodding her head as she checked the watch on her wrist that Rachel had gifted her early last year. "Sure, if we have time." She glided towards Quinn and placed a quick kiss to her lips. "I love you."
