"Funny how you won't join the squad, yet you're always on my track."

Quinn Bristol turned her head and spotted Santana sauntering over with her usual hip swirls and crisscrossed arms. She's gotten used to dealing with the protective quarrels that came from the closeted girl. Specifically, when she'd try to be the best friend, she's always been to Kailani. Santana was especially snooty when Quinn moved to Lima mid-freshman year and shoved her way into the two friends' routines without remorse.

Kailani was her best friend. She had no reason to act differently than she would have.

"What's next?" Santana scoffed. "Infiltrating their glee club?"

"I don't see you jumping to help their club."

"I-I could if I wanted to." Santana looked away. "I don't need you stepping on my toes."

"Get used to it, Skirt." Quinn ran her fingers through her messy pink hair and watched number eight rush down the field of taller boys with the football in hand. "He's doing so well. I'm so glad Burt sued the school. Look how happy they are."

"Yeah." Santana glanced at Quinn and stood straighter. No matter how hard she tried, Quinn was still taller than her. She hadn't gotten used to sharing Kailani's attention between Quinn and herself, but she figured this is how Kailani felt when she hung out with Brittany, and now Alexis Bristol. "I hear you're the one that donated the kidney last year."

"I'd donate my heart to him if it kept Kai alive." Quinn confessed, lip twitching slightly when Kailani made it into the end zone and looked her way to see if she caught the play. She didn't plan on missing a single one now that she'd moved into their neighborhood. "Prove 'em wrong, Koda! Good run!"

Santana looked out on the field where Kailani was jumping around in excitement. They looked happy and Santana couldn't be prouder. However, this whole fiasco with Quinn Bristol still irked her. There was a noticeable gradual disconnect from her hip to Quinn's now that the pink-haired biker chick had joined their friend group in person and not through letters.

"Do you..." Santana cleared her throat so she wouldn't seem expectant of an answer. "Do you love him?"

"Yeah?" Quinn frowned, turning her attention from Kailani. "Why does that matter?"

"I mean, like...do you love him?" Santana repeated.

Quinn stared at her for a moment. She shuffled her feet and looked back to the field, unable to fight the smile that formed seeing her dorky best friend happily cleared to play on the football team by the school and their doctor. It's everything Kailani wanted next to sharing their writing with the world.
