As two guards opened the double doors to his office, Hunter Ryan stepped inside with a satisfied smirk on his face. He welcomed the smell of coffee and mischief as his attention shifted to the woman hard at work inside.
"Girls." Hunter raised a brow when he noticed only two in front of him. "Where's your sister?"
"Sage is..." Sea exchanged a look with Sky. "...tying up a few loose ends."
"Hm." Hunter pressed his lips together and stopped to stand before the two women. "Well, I wanted to be the first to congratulate you on your training...Sea. You've shown improvement."
"Thanks." Sea glanced at Sky when the woman's shoulders fell. "Sky's been helping me train."
"Can't tell." Hunter looked Sky up and down. "Have you gotten any better in the ring?"
"Yes." Sky nodded eagerly, sitting on the edge of her sister's desk. "I've pinned—"
"I don't believe that for a second." Hunter chuckled bitterly and turned away from Sky as her face fell. "But I'll come watch this afternoon."
"Okay." Sky forced a smile and nodded.
"Sea, I have a mission for you." Hunter smiled at the woman as he gently stroked his daughter's cheek. "But I need to know you'll take this seriously."
"Of course, Daddy." Sea agreed.
"As you know, Sage is my right hand. You'll never top her capabilities." Hunter ignored the way his children exchanged a look, knowing they already knew those words were valid. "But I need one of my more... believable princesses to do some dirty work. Some undercover work."
"Undercover?" Sea frowned. "Everyone knows who I am."
"Exactly." Hunter motioned to Sky, but continued to talk to Sea. "I need you to infiltrate the resistence. I need to know what they're planning. It's been too silent for too long. Beside baby battles, the streets have been close to bare of their fighters. They're hiding something."
"What does that have to do with me?" Sky asked as Hunter ran his fingers through her hair. "Daddy?"
"Well, I can't send my weakest link out with the enemy." Hunter smirked and looked at Sea. He took Sky's chin and held her face, squishing her cheeks roughly. "So I need your sister to pretend to be you. Quinn would never leave her preciouslittle Junebug to die. The guilt would be too much for her."
"So we, what?" Sea crossed her arms. "I pretend I can't fight and claim I'm Sky?"
"Ass." Sky scoffed, rolling her eyes.
