"Okay, favorite Michael Jackson memory." Blaine pointed his coffee cup towards Artie and chuckled, leaning back in his chair beside Kurt at Lima Bean with a few of their fellow Glee members. "Go."
After the Troubletones made their disappointment known regarding missing out on their only time to do Michael, the group had jumped at the chance to do it again for Regionals with everyone now reformed into the New Directions.
"When I was one, my mom showed me the VHS tape of his Motown special, and when he did the moonwalk across the stage for the first time in history, I uttered my first words: Hot damn." Artie replied, as the group chuckled softly at the memory.
"I owe the King of Pop a deep debt of gratitude." Kurt chimed in, as Kailani nodded beside him, sipping her coffee as she played with Quinn's fingers on the arm rest between them. "He was the first one to pull off the sequined military jacket, long before one Kurt Hummel made it iconic."
"Thriller's video scared me as a child, but I loved the song. Iconic." Kailani giggled, as Quinn rolled her eyes.
"Everything scares you." She mumbled, sipping her coffee to hide her amused smile.
"I have to be honest..." Rachel sighed, shrugging her shoulders as Vaughn and Brooke arrived over and sat down in the chairs across from Santana. "I never really got him."
"Got who?" Brooke asked, as Vaughn turned her head towards Rachel curiously.
"M.J."
"Who's wrong with Mercedes?" Vaughn frowned, as Kailani chuckled.
"Michael Jackson, Vin Vin." She corrected the younger girl, offering her a small smile when the other brunette slowly nodded, sinking into her chair. Kailani frowned a bit, seeing Vaughn's shoulders drop, observing her sudden closed off body language.
"We are no longer on speaking terms." Artie muttered, shaking his head in disappointment, as Rachel sighed.
"No, I think he's an amazing performer, but I've never really got what he was about." She defended herself, as Brooke giggled and nudged Vaughn with a wiggle of her brows.
"Hehe." She whispered, earning an unattractive snort from Vaughn, who quickly tried to hide her face when a few eyes glanced their direction.
"Rachel, he was best friends with Liza Minnelli and Liz Taylor." Kurt reminded her, ignoring the two younger girls' quiet giggles, unsure of what they were even referring to.
