"Please say something."

Kailani leaned against the wall of Quinn's room and looked towards August's sleeping and drugged form in the blonde's guest room with her wounds stitched and wrapped. She had been silent since receiving the full explanation on why she was summoned out of bed at four in the morning.

"Lani," Quinn pleaded, looking towards her ex-partner with a concerned wrinkle between her brows. "Please. Say so-"

"You shot our child." Kailani whispered, rubbing her elbow as a discomforting frown appeared on her face as she watched August breath in her drugged state. "You...shot our child."

"I swear I didn't know it was her..." Quinn waved a hand towards the teenager. "I just saw the gun and-"

"Shot it. You saw the gun and acted impulsively." Kailani stated, lips pressing into a thin line as she looked away and fixed her glasses. She inhaled deeply and pushed off the wall, approaching August's side on the bed. "What did Ed-...uh, Cyra say her name was?"

"Augusta." Quinn answered, moving across the room to stand behind Kailani as she sat down beside August's head and brushed her hair out of her face. "August or Auggie. I've heard Cyra call her that too."

"After Alisha." The corner's of Kailani's lips twitched upwards at the realization, but they fell a second later when she looked over her swollen cheek around and bandaged ear. "What did Mr. Lopez say? Is her hearing okay? Her ear?"

"It should be. The, uh, top of her ear was...tipped off so they fixed it as much as they could and sewed it back together." Quinn explained, wincing when Kailani side eyed her, not pleased with the information. "Baby, I'm sorry, I didn-"

"Do not Baby me. You could have killed her." Kailani turned her head and looked at Quinn with a downturn of her lips. "Then what? What needs to happen for you to think before you act, Quinn? You could have killed her. And in front of her sister. Is that what you need? To shoot a gun towards our child in order for you to start thinking before you act?"

"I didn't know, Kailani." Quinn whimpered, not liking the way Kailani's dark eyes weren't budging like they usually did.

She wasn't being comforted or reasoned with. She had obviously crossed a line that was difficult for Kailani to process, especially in her sleepy brain fogged state. Quinn could tell the second she explained the situation when Kailani arrived at her house and saw how patched up their daughter was. It was like she had spanked one of their children in front of her, but much worst. She hadn't realized how scary Kailani could be as a mother, but looking into her usually bright eyes and seeing nothing but a brewing storm at the thought of her child being hurt was enough to shake her to her core.
