When Kailani's eyes fluttered open to the sound of their name, a rush of fright and confusion appeared quickly after.

"Lani? Baby?" A muffled voice called to them through the ringing in their ears. "Kailani!"

Glass. It hurt when they moved because Kailani was lying on the glass. There was pavement and glass, a horrible combination of their sensory issues. The pain was pounding in their head worse than she had felt a minute prior — throbbing, pulsing, sharp pains. The red splattered around them was the least of their concern when Kailani noticed they were on their side.

In a car.

"Lani, you...be brave." The same voice said from above them. "You're okay. I-I can...hear help."

Kailani's eyes slowly rolled toward the completely shattered window to her left. It was high up, and the sun was blazing down through it, but squinting allowed them to see just enough of Quinn's bloody face. She blinked a few times, trying to clear her foggy vision as the blonde grabbed her hand tightly.

"Hold my hand. La-Lani, hold my hand."

Kailani weakly closed their hand and stared at Quinn's droopy eyes. Her heart raced the more their vision cleared, and soon, they found themselves breathing heavily and recognizing the inside of the now-destroyed red beetle.

"Moons." Kailani whimpered, head resting against the dashboard. "Yes."

"Yes?" Quinn mumbled, confusion in her eyes as she struggled not to tumble over in the seatbelt's tight grip. She tried to shift her weight but found herself crying out in pain as her spine throbbed. "Fuck. I-I'm sorry. This is all my fault."

"Yes, Quinn." Kailani mumbled drowsily. "Yes."

"Yes?"

"Yes, I..." Kailani's ears zoned in on Sonnet's barking and the sound of approaching sirens. "I want to marry you."

Quinn clutched Kailani's hand tighter and smiled weakly. She frowned when the brunette's eyes suddenly slammed closed, and her body trembled.

"Stop! Damn it, Kailani!"

When Kailani opened their eyes, they were faced with a sharp tug of their arm. Their body spun around until they faced Quinn in the middle of a semi-memorable bathroom. Bottles fell to the tile floor as their wrist was squeezed, and Quinn's fire bore deep into Kailani's soul.

"You..." Kailani could smell the vodka on Quinn's breath. "You promised me. You promised me you'd...stop drinking."

"Yeah, well, you said you'd always support me."
