Reckless promises were made,
And one by one, broken.
Yet you never left my gaze,
Our nightmare ended after I awoken.
I remember slowly dancing in the dark,
Your arms around me, and you in my hold.
On my heart, you left a mark,
And now it spread and slowly went cold.
In the back of your head,
I'll just be a memory.
One of the old chapters you read,
You'll be better off without me.
I was only ever an option,
While you were my priority.
I'm just a destination,
Not where you're meant to be.
Yet the ghost of us still hangs around,
Watching us completely fall apart.
You're only one is finally found,
And now I have to build back up from the start.
