We go to the doctor's office and I get a series of exams done on me. Karen has to sit in the lobby because only one person is allowed in the exam rooms with me. Kenny held my hand the entire time.

The doctor opens the door and walks in. I hear him flip a paper. I would assume he is holding a clipboard like doctors usually do.

"Well, Ms. Stotch... We did our tests and they all came back with a similar diagnosis. It seems that the impact you took when your head hit the floor caused a few blood vessels in your brain to be squished and cut off. It seems you are suffering from a severe concussion."

Kenny squeezes my hand. "Will she be okay?"

"If she follows a strict 48-hour rest plan she will probably regain most cognitive functions, including getting her emotional regulation back."

"What about her sight?"

"We haven't seen someone fully recover from a damaged optical nerve like she has. She may regain some sight if she is lucky, but I would start setting up a plan to get a guide dog and some blind training. I can set you guys up with a physical therapist who can help with that."

"Okay. Thank you, doctor."

The doctor leaves and Kenny puts a hand on my shoulder.

"What's going through your mind?" I ask.

"I'm worried, and I'm scared. What about you? What's going through your head?"

"Apparently some squished blood vessels and optic nerves."

He laughs, "Fair enough. He said we can go home after he gets some prescription medicine."

"That's good."

"Yeah, I'll keep watch over you."

"For 48 hours? That doesn't sound like it would work."

"I've stayed awake for longer. Plus, Karen can switch out for me if I get too tired. We are gonna get you through this. Plenty of rest."

"Okay."

"And if you can't get your sight back, I'll be your guide. I'll help you through therapy and everything."

"Thanks."

"You still can't feel anything? Even though you may not get your vision back?"

"No, I can't. I can think logically though. I can comprehend that I should be upset. And I can comprehend that you are probably feeling a lot of emotions."

"Mar..."

"I know I love you, even if I don't feel anything. I just know it's there, it's the strongest thing in me. So I know I'm going to be worried about you if you suffer for me. So please don't overexert yourself."

"Okay..."

"I love you."

"I love you too, Mar."

Kenny takes me back to his house, he leads me to his bed, and turns out the lights. The doctor said I need to stay in darkness for a while, so he covered his curtains.

I don't like that it's pitch black now. I could still see bright lights and outlines, but now it's just black. I wish I could see Kenny.
