I feel so awkward... the auditorium is pretty big but most of it was cleaned up while everyone else was here.

I stay to one side of the room. I don't want to make him uncomfortable or anything. He does the same.

It's too quiet. The tension is so thick I feel like I could pass out.

"Do you mind if I play some music from my phone?" Kenny's voice breaks the silence.

It's like he read my mind. "Go right ahead, I was thinking the same thing."

He begins to play songs by the artist Beach Bunny. She's my favorite. Did he really remember that? Is he playing it because he knows I like it?

Once the auditorium is clean I take a deep breath. People really went crazy tonight, it was a mess.

My phone says it's currently 9pm. Later than I thought I would stay but oh well.

Kenny stops his music and puts his coat back on. I always loved how he looked getting dressed. The way he-

I need to stop thinking like that. What happened between us is over now. He's moved on, I should too.

He gets to the auditorium door and turns halfway around, facing me but not looking at me. "Night."

"Yeah, good ni-"

A loud beeping cuts me off. Both of our phones go off with an alert.

*NATIONAL WEATHER ALERT: BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT 9-12PM. STAY INDOORS, SEVERE ICE AND SNOW. TEMPERATURE BELOW FREEZING*

"Oh shit..." Kenny mutters as he reads the alert.

We both run out of the auditorium and look out the hallway window. It's already pitch black outside. The clouds and snow are eating up every bit of light the town had.

"Woah..." I whisper, trying to see anything outside with no avail.

"Jesus Christ... I've never seen a snowstorm this bad before..."

"Me neither." I step back, clasping my hands together anxiously. "Do you think we'll be able to get home?"

Kenny takes out his keychain and clicks his mini flashlight on. He flashes it out the window  and I can briefly see dozens of snowflakes. "It's a fucking white out... there's no way my truck will drive through that and you can't even see 5 feet in front of you so I don't recommend walking..."

"So what do we do? We're just stuck inside until morning?"

"I guess so... even once the clouds clear we can't go anywhere until the snow plows start running in the morning."

"Okay... at least the school is warm. It could be worse..." I try my best to sound positive, maybe then I can convince myself that I'm not as scared as I actually am.
