She guides me down the hall and stops at a gap in the lockers.

"We should sit here."

"On the floor?"

"Yes."

"If you really want to..."

We both sit down in the locker gap. She checks her phone over and over.

"Is something happening? You keep checking your phone."

"No, I'm just expecting a message is all."

"Oh, okay..."

We sit in silence for a while.

"Marjorine, I'll be right back."

She leaves. Why? She dragged me over here and now she's just gonna go? Whatever... she'll be back soon... I hope...

I rest my elbows on my knees and lay my head down. I'm kinda spent. So much has been happening lately and it's hard to keep up. I wish things could be simple like they were before... back when I could spend lots of time with Kenny...

"Mar?"

I lift my head up and see Kenny kneeling on one knee in-front of me, holding a huge bouquet of roses.

"Kenny?! What is all this?"

"Mar, I love you so much. I want to spend my life with you. I'm not proposing or anything but I probably will in the future. Right now I want to ask you to please be my date to the senior prom."

I gasp and cover my mouth. He looks so handsome, he combed out his hair and wore nice clothes. His face shows hope, and that silly, goofy, lovestruck smile that I love so much.

"Well?" He holds out the roses.

"Of course!"

I jump on him, knocking us both to the floor. I shove my lips to his and smile down at him.

"I would be honored to go with you~"

He smiles and grabs my hips, kissing me again.

We sit up and collect ourselves.

"Is this why Karen was acting so weird? I was confused as to why she was making me sit here..."

"Yeah. I wanted to ask you here. This is where we had our first kiss."

I look down at the gap in the lockers and I remember everything. I remember him standing up for me, and I remember our kiss... it was like a dream.

I hug him. "It was perfect! You're perfect. I love you so, so much!"

"I'm glad. I love you too, Mar. now, let's head home and celebrate. There's one more surprise."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

-

We get back home and Karen is already there.

"Karen? How did you-"

She smiles and looks at the floor, "My prom date drove me..."

"Prom date?! You got a date to the prom?! Who is it?!"

"Her name is Kate. She's actually here right now... I wanted you two to meet her..."

"Her?"

She looks at me with a hurt expression.

"Oh! No I didn't mean that in a bad way! I just didn't know! I'm proud of you, Karen! When do we meet her?!" I'm excited, and happy. Things are back to how they used to be. Fun.
