Chapter 59

Once his eyes are closed I walk over and get on my knees, holding up my surprise.

"Okay, open your eyes."

He looks down at me. "Woah..."

"Yep." 

I hold up my lightly used Nintendo Switch.

"I thought you didn't play video games!" He takes the console.

"I do, just not the same ones you do. I play hello kitty island adventure :)"

"What else do you have?"

"I bought Mario Cart after your birthday. I thought I would try to get better at it."

"So we can play that? Whenever we want?" His eyes light up.

I giggle. "You are adorable. Yes, anytime we want. We can even play it now if you want."

"Can we!?"

I nod and stand up. "C'mon, let's get your mind focused on one thing."

"Okay!"

He gets up and rushes to his living room, speeding past Karen.

"What happened? His mood totally changed."

"I offered him a video game."

"Seriously? Kenny has always wanted to have his own gaming system."

"I'm just glad it worked. Now I know his weakness."

"He may like video games but I'm willing to bet you're still his biggest weakness."

I blush, "I kinda hope so."

I go over to the couch. Kenny already set up the switch and took the controllers out.

"Who do you want to play, Mar?"

"Hmm..." I sit down and look at all the characters. "Maybe this one, she's cute."

"That's Rosalina. She's pretty cool."

"What game is she from?"

"She was introduced in the 2007 Super Mario Galaxy game. She was a fan favorite at the time so they started adding her to the Mario cart and Mario party games."

"Pff- Dork."

"Hey! It's interesting stuff!"

I kiss him on the cheek, "Sorry, you're right."

He rolls his eyes. "Mar... I'm sorry for avoiding your kiss before... Can I make it up to you now?"

"Of course. You can kiss me whenever you want, you don't need to ask."

He grabs my chin and kisses me. I missed this.

He pulls away and smiles at me. That goofy lovestruck smile again. There's my Kenny...

"You ready to start?" I change the subject in hopes of him not noticing my red face.

"Yeah."

"Who are you playing?"

"Oh, this guy is Bowser. He is the main villain in almost every Mario game."

"You like playing the villain?"

"Not really, I just think he's cool. We also have a bit in common. We both have a thing for blondes."

I giggle, "I do too~"

We play for two hours, he tries to go easy on me but still wins every time. I get a bit better each time, Kenny shows me tips and tricks as we go. It's fun. We both needed to have a fun time like this after all the drama.

"Aw! Mar that red shell was personal."

"You deserved it. I was finally getting ahead and you hit me with that banana thing!"

"That wasn't even me! You ran into it on the floor!"

"Whatever. You're the only one I can target to get my revenge."

"You're the worst~"

"Hey, what's this?"

I throw a blue spiky shell from my inventory.

"Fuck!"

"What does that do?"

"That hits whoever is in the first place. Which is me."

The shell hits him and I speed past just in time to beat him over the finish line.

"I did it!" I throw my arms up in victory.
