Book 2 Chapter 38

As soon as I get home I face plant onto my bed. I want to cry but I can't. This whole situation is making me feel so anxious I can't think straight.

Another sleepless night.

In the morning, I check my school email to make sure I'm all caught up before I go to my Tuesday classes. That's when I see an email marked as urgent.

*Attention class! I've made some changes to the groups.
Kenny and Bebe are now part of the group containing Bradley and Marjorine.
Thanks!*

I blink a few times and try to comprehend the email. He combined our groups? Why?

I'm not complaining...

I hear a ding from my phone. A group chat has just been made with me, Kenny, Bradley, and an unknown number I assume is Bebe.

Bebe: Hey all! Since we all got put together, we should talk about the project. Is everyone free today around 4pm to meet in one of the schools study rooms?

Kenny: I'm free.

Marjorine: I can do that!

Bebe: That just leaves Bradley. This is his number, right?

Marjorine: yeah it is.

Bradley: why did we all get put together?

Kenny: we can talk about that tonight at 4. Are you coming or not?

Bradley: Yeah I'll be there.

Bebe: perfect! See you all there <3

At least now I won't have to be alone with Bradley. Although I'm not looking forward to being around Kenny when he's with his girlfriend.

"Marjorine! Hey!" Bebe greets me as soon as I walk into our designated study room.

"Hello! Is anyone else here yet?"

"Not yet. It's just us. Kenny is usually a few minutes late."

"Pff. Yeah, he never gets anywhere on time."

"Marjorine, I've heard a lot of really good things about you from Kenny. I was hoping you and me could be friends..?"

I feel a pain in my chest. "Of course!"

"Oh good!" She smiles sweetly at me.

She isn't a bad person... now I feel bad for feeling so much hatred and jealousy towards her.

Bradley shows up next. He greets us and takes his seat, not saying much.

Last to arrive is Kenny. He sits between me and Bebe.

"So..." Kenny pulls out his study. "Do you guys have your case study?"

I look over to Bradley. "Did you bring it?"

"Yes." He puts the packet onto the table. "Can someone explain why our groups got combined?"

Kenny sighs. "I had a word with our teacher. I told him he needs to combine our groups because I had concerns about safety."

"What?" I look over at him but he maintains his stare on Bradley.

Bradley raises an eyebrow. "Is this because we broke up?"

"Partly." Kenny responds. He doesn't give any more information. I'm pretty sure he is doing that so he doesn't out me to his girlfriend.

He's considerate as always...
