Chapter 17

"Okay." I regain my confidence when Kenny smiles at me.

We walk into class, the teacher gives us an annoyed look but he doesn't say anything. Kenny walks me over to my seat and doesn't let go of my hand until I'm seated.

"Kenny?!" Clyde looks over at us, he looks borderline offended.

"Can I help you?" Kenny smirks at him.

"Dude. Since when were you and her so close?"

"She's right here, don't talk like she isn't in the same room."

"Oh, gross. It's weird seeing you defend a girl like that..."

"I think you might be jealous, Clyde."

"Pfft, yea right. I'm just surprised is all."

"Take your seats, boys." The teacher chimes in.

Kenny squeezes my shoulder before walking away. That was his way of telling me that he was here, even if he wasn't right next to me he was still watching out for me.

When class ends the teacher starts to walk over to me but he gets cut off by Kenny. Saved again.

"Let's go." He holds out his hand again and I take it.

At lunch we sit at our normal table. Kenny's friends look surprised.

Stan is the first to speak. "Dude, what's with you guys holding hands all day? Did you start dating without telling us?"

"No, I'm just helping her out with something."

"Are you sure about that?" Kyle points at me. "Her red face says otherwise."

Oh god...

I quickly cover my face before Kenny can see it.

Kenny grabs my wrists and pulls them from my face.

"See? I told you!" Kyle exclaims

"Oh..." Kenny places my hands in my lap and he looks away.

Wait... was he blushing too? I didn't get a good look but I think he might've been...

Eric Cartman laughs, "This is too good!"

Kenny snaps at him, "Shut up, fatass!"

"Chill, Kenny. I'm just admiring your little relationship."

The smile on Cartmans face is evil.

Things are going better for me. Karen and I meet every day after school and I get to see Kenny every morning.

Just seeing him is enough. I'm realistic enough to know I shouldn't wish for more.

He is a lot prettier than I ever realized, not only does he have dimples, but also some light freckles. You don't see them unless you look closely. His front teeth have a small gap in them, it makes his smile look really cute. His lips look soft too...

On Thursday Cartman pulls me aside. "Ok dude, plan is off. Nicole and Tolkien got back together, you can be Butters again."

"I don't think I want to. The person I am now is more me than Butters ever was."

"Is it cause you like Kenny now? And you're scared he won't like you if he finds out you're a a boy?"

"I'm not a boy."

"Butters, stop being stupid. Just take the wig off and be normal again."

"No."

He scowls. "Fine, do whatever then."

With that, he storms off. That went better than I was expecting it to.
