Chapter 36

"I will be announcing the partnerships."

Damnit, they're predetermined.

"Kenny is with Nicole."

Fuck.

"Cartman is with Scott. Wendy is with Stan. Marjorine is with Clyde. Tweek is with Craig. Kyle is with Tolkien.

Why did he have to get paired up with Nicole? He had a thing for her before I came along... this makes me nervous.

"Guess you and me are partners for a bit." Clyde scoots over to me.

"Yeah."

"I want you to know I support you by the way. I think it's great that you are being your true self."

"Thanks, Clyde. I actually thought you hated me..."

"I don't, I'm just not the best at getting my feelings across."

"Well, I'm glad you don't hate me. Let's make the most of the project."

"Yeah!"

The teacher gives everyone their objectives. Clyde and I need to help plant trees at the park. That shouldn't be too hard. It might even be fun.

I look over at Kenny. He is laughing with Nicole. I know I shouldn't care that he is happy right now, in fact, I should be glad he's happy. But I feel incredibly pissed off right now.

I catch Kenny before he gets to his next class. "Kenny? What's your objective? For the project?"

"Oh, me and Nicole have to volunteer down at the homeless shelter, we just have to hand out food and supplies and stuff. What about you?"

"Clyde and I are planting trees at the park."

"Aww, yours sounds way more fun than mine."

"I'm sure you'll have fun with yours. You used to like Nicole so it should be super duper fun."

I regret saying that as soon as it comes out of my mouth, my tone was horrible. I can't contain my annoyance right now.

"Mar, are you worried about me being paired with her?"

I don't say anything, I just look at the floor.

"I love you, Mar. You know I'm not the kind of guy to cheat so relax."

"If you say so... can you promise you don't have a thing for her anymore?"

"Yes. I promise. You are the only person I like. No one can even compare."

"Okay... that makes me feel a little bit better..."

"Good." He kisses my forehead, "Get to class. I'll see you at lunch."

I approach the table we usually sit at for lunch, but Clyde stops me.

"Hey, Marjorine. Do you want to sit with my group today? We should talk about the project and maybe get to know each other if we're gonna be spending time together."

I look over to Kenny, he seems to be fine with his friends.

"Yeah, where do you sit?"

I follow him to his table. A group of guys. Jimmy, Scott, Tolkien, Clyde, and someone I've never seen before.

"That's Dave. He is new, but he's cool."

Dave waves to me, he's a pretty feminine looking guy.

"Nice to meet you, Dave. I'm Marjorine."

"Yeah, good to meet you."

His voice sounds pretty feminine too.
