Background
This is the final railway on this list that is still open. The Culdee Fell Railway is a railway that goes from Kirk Machan to the Summit of the mountain it was named after. It was strictly built for tourism but had some light goods traffic. Since the line needed to go up steep gradients, it was decided that a rack rail system would be used. This would keep the engines from slipping on the steep climb. Despite all that, it was still incredibly dangerous going up, which is why safety is taken incredibly seriously. Engines are only allowed one coach or truck every trip up. The tracks also have guards as well. Despite all of the precautions, there have been at least 2 accidents on the railway. The manager of the railway refuses to acknowledge these events, since he fears the railway's image would be jeopardized.
