Fergus is a railway traction engine. He is an engine that is very similar to the engine Blue Circle, or Blaine to her friends. Fergus has worked at the cement works outside of Killaban since 1926. The line used to connect with the old wharf on the Wellsworth & Suddery Railway before the line extended to Brendam. The original engine usually shunted trains and brought them to Suddery herself. Fergus took over in 1927 and he still does this today. However, instead of taking the trains to the wharf, which closed when the line was extended, he takes the trains to Wellsworth instead. Since the cement works is a small operation, they only need one engine to do the work. Fergus is a rather strict and shrewd engine sometimes. His insistence on doing things correctly annoys the engines to no end. Nevertheless, he is still an industrious worker that they can respect.
