Stephen is a replica of the original Stephenson's Rocket. There already are multiple replicas of the legendary engine, but Stephen is a replica of the engine that first competed in the Rainhill Trials, with a few elements from other replicas, like the cylinders being higher up. Construction on him started in the 1920s, but the organization went bankrupt and put Stephen in storage. Then he was bought by another organization in the 1950s, but they quickly went out of business. Stephen sat in a crate for years until he was rediscovered and purchased by Sir Robert. Stephen was sent to Crovan's Gate and was finally completed in 1989. Stephen is painted like the replica Rocket, but he has Sir Robert's crest painted on his tender. Stephen is rather eccentric much like Sir Robert. He pulls some of the slower tours along with another engine named Glynn.
