Rosiline is a USATC S100 tank engine. She is also known as Rosie to her friends. She was built in 1942 and refurbished in 1947. She served in the North African campaign, where she worked with a few of her brothers and sisters. Her military career was very unpleasant. She was working near a yard with a bridge near it. One of her brothers was pulling a small goods train along the bridge, when the bridge exploded. Someone had planted a bomb on one of the supports and set a timer. This made Rosie incredibly sad, and she went a long time without speaking. She then met other engines that had served during the war. They were good friends until they were separated. Rosie then worked at the Southampton Docks until 1968, when she was withdrawn from service. She was taken to Crewe and stayed there for a few months, until she encountered Arthur, and a 9F named Murdoch. Together, the trio, along with their crews, made their run to Sodor and then arrived in 1969. Rosie and Arthur were both trialed at Tidmouth, though not at the same time. Rosie was sent to Norramby first, and Arthur stayed at Tidmouth. After Arthur smashed some vans full of produce, and Rosie fell off of an old rickety ferry pier, Sir Charles decided to have them swap duties. Rosie was seen as more suitable for Tidmouth since she was closer to the size of some of the previous pilots. The only accident we found on Rosie's record was the ferry pier incident. I was told that it happened because Rosie couldn't pull a heavy goods train, and an old coupling broke. Rosie doesn't mind working at Tidmouth. She says it reminds her of her time at Southampton. In the TVS, Rosie is painted lavender, and later red. Some universes make her a shade of LMR blue or a Southern green, but I made her teal instead. I believe it is a more unique livery for her. Also, like some of her American siblings, Rosie has a bell on top of her boiler.
