Background

Sodor is home to a plethora of narrow-gauge engines. One of the oldest railways is the Skarloey Railway. It has been open since 1865. Ever since then, it continued to gain popularity as the years have gone on. Six of them are engines that used to work on the old abandoned Mid Sodor Railway. Two of them are engines that were built much later than the rest of them. One was found in the abandoned gold mine at Ulfstead in 1997. He had been there since 1945 and was elated to be rescued. He told Mr. Roger Sam about another engine that was missing. One of the mining engines from the MSR was rediscovered in Europe. He was restored and worked at some of the SKR's mines. Another engine was bought from a private collector. The final engines that were brought to the SKR were the little engine from the Sodor Aluminium Works, one of the MOD engines that was abandoned and a rail motor from the old days that was restored.
