Boris is a diesel that came to Sodor in the 1960s. He had many of the problems the other Metrovicks had. One day he brought a goods train to Brendam. He then accidentally took some trucks meant for Bill and Ben. He then came to a stop in the yard when he discovered he had burst a fuel pipe. He was then harassed by the twins until Edward told them to stop. Boris was repaired and was put on trial. He met Duck, who was skeptical at first, but eventually warmed up to him. After Edward's Exploit, Boris proved to be a capable engine after his issues were fixed. He became the NWR's 2nd diesel. In terms of accidents, Boris doesn't really have any on his record during his career on the NWR. He mainly pulls goods trains on the Brendam branch along with Neville and Derek, the other diesel on the line. Because of his wheel arrangement, the Reverend decided to call the character in the books BoCo.
