Alina started life as an Austerity tank engine designed by Andrew Barclay. She was owned by the National Coal Board before being withdrawn in 1969. She sat abandoned in a sighting for 20 years when she was found and bought by the Ffarquhar Quarry Company. She was restored and reentered service in 1995. She is a little larger than both Mavis and Flora, so she takes some of the longer stone trains down to the station. Alina is a simple engine who does her work without fuss or complaint. She is often seen with a tired but determined expression on her face. She doesn't have any accidents on record, although she has been known to suffer coughing fits, because of all of the dust. Sometimes, on special occasions, Alina will take a small passenger train to Ulfstead sometimes.
