Percy the Small Engine (NWR No.6):

Percy's story before coming to Sodor is still a mystery in the books. Itis not known what class of engine he is or where he was built. Most people assume that he is a modified version of GWR No. 1340 'Trojan', and I am mostly okay with this. The only thing that does not work is that 'Trojan' was built in1897. That does not work for Percy, so I'm willing to offer a compromise. The warehouse where The Fat Director bought Percy is where he was built. Instead of being secondhand like the books, in this universe, Percy was built in 1933 and bought a year later. Since he was built in a factory, he was kind of like a pet project for the workshop staff to see what works. The workmen swore a lot, which rubbed off on him. Percy was bought because of an engine crisis caused by the three big engines going on strike. After the engine crisis was solved, Percy was made the official Tidmouth pilot. He worked there until Sir Charles Topham Hatt II began the restoration of the old Knapford Harbor. Percy was heavily involved with this project, as well as doing his jobs at Tidmouth. This proved to be too much for him, so Sir Charles bought a Pannier tank engine from British Railways named Montague in 1948. Once he became the Tidmouth pilot, Percy was transferred to the Ffarquhar Branch Line to be its dedicated goods engine. He and Thomas are good friends, though they quarrel often. Whenever they are fighting, coarse language can often be heard from both engines. Percy means well, but accidents always seem to happen whenever he's around. It has become an NWR tradition to fit shunters that work by the sea with a bell. This tradition was started by Percy. He calls it his lucky bell for whatever reason. This is also useful for when Percy is on the tramway.
