Godred was the former CFR No. 1. He was reckless, impatient and never kept a good lookout of the track. This proved almost fatal when he derailed and tumbled down the mountain, being horribly damaged in the process. He was so badly damaged that the owner put him in the back of the shed. Then the controller, Mr. Richards, allegedly planned to use Godred for scrap. This never happened however, because Godred was bought discreetly by the Norramby family. Surprisingly, even after the fall, Godred was still relatively intact. Since they wanted to keep the sale concealed, they disassembled Godred over time and sent him in pieces. Any time one of the engines asked him why this was happening, he simply said, "It's not your issue." Eventually, he was sent to Ulfstead and reassembled. Since he was so damaged, it didn't take long for the men to give up. When the railway around the estate was built in 1925, Godred was placed in the workshops and left there for years. There were plans to build a small demonstration line to give Godred something to do. The plans were constantly being delayed and were eventually forgotten by Sir Edward. After war broke out, he had to leave his estate. Godred was left in the back of the shed again. Godred had accepted his fate when a young Sir Robert decided to restore and upgrade the estate. He was also able to arrange a deal with the NWR to connect the estate to both the Ffarquhar and Peel Godred branch lines. He also put his grandfather's plans for Godred into effect in the 1960s. Godred was sent to Crovan's Gate to be restored to working order in 1962. He actually met Culdee, who was being inspected there, and they caught up. He also found out the old manager of the CFR had retired, and his son had taken over. Culdee could see that Godred was not the same reckless engine from 1900. They were both sent back to their respective railways the next year. They were on the same train heading up the Peel Godred line. Culdee was dropped off first, then Godred was taken up to Ulfstead. Godred now runs trains on a small stretch of line that runs around the more elevated parts of the estate. Even though he was offered a new coat of paint, Godred kept his old CFR livery.
