The North Western Railway
Background
The NWR has a diverse roster of steam engines and diesels. A lot of the engines on this roster have been featured in both the books and the Television Series. Others have only featured in either one. There is also a limited number of electric engines. Unlike the books, services continue past Barrow-In-Furness. Sir Topham Hatt I had already acquired the rights to run goods services to Manchester in the 1930s, and Sir Stephen acquired the rights to run a fast service to London in the mid to late 1980s. Unlike the books, Sir Stephen Topham Hatt extends the Wild'Nor'Wester and sometimes stopping passenger services to Manchester. The NWR roster has at least 21 steam engines and 12 diesels and diesel-electrics. Here is a list of all of them.
