Chapter 39

When Sunghoon came to a halt, a few people around me rubbed their eyes. He slowly drifted towards us. Towards me. When everyone gave him a high five or hug, his eyes found mine every few seconds.

"Come on now let's goooo" Jake and Niki screamed and stumbled to the rink. I went to the bleachers to get my skates. I liked thier color, it was white with pale pink spots on it.

"You don't know how to skate right?" Sunghoon asked me.

I shook my head and tied up the laces of the shoes.
"Never saw these shoes either."
I was sitting on the lowest seat.

"Uh huh. I was hoping you'd say that." And he smirked at me.

What now? Was he studying in Heeseung's University of smirk studies?

"Come on. I'll teach you." He said and took my hand.

As soon as I tried standing up, I trembled at the thin blade like thing under the shoes. It didn't hurt. But it wasn't that comfortable either.

"Woah take it easy." He said held both of my hands.

"Yep. I can do it!" I gave him a single nod and he gave me a toothy grin. And to I totally embarrassed myself by stumbling on normal ground. Sunghoon failed to keep his laugh in.

"Don't laugh. It's the shoes." I mumbled.

"I know" He said.

When we came to the rink, Sunghoon stood infront of me. He put both his hands forward and grabbed on tightly.

"Hold on tight. I will move backwards and you slowly move towards me. Okay?" He asked. I gave him a nod.

He stepped inside the rink and beckoned me. I took a deep breath and out my feet on the ice. It was almost like the normal ground while standing. Just slippery like hell. He slowly moved back taking me with with. I was really scared. I remembered my cousin fracturing his ankle on the rink a few months ago. I was having second thoughts on skating now.

"Lee, look at me." Sunghoon ordered. I moved my eyes to his face instead of my shoes. "You won't fall. I'm with you ok? Just do what I saw. And suppose you do stumble, I'll catch you before you get hurt. Okay?" He was super serious and it gave me a bit of comfort.

"Okay." I said.

We slowly glided together. I was quite wobbly in the start but Sunghoon guided me through my posture. After 5 mins or so, I started getting a hang of it. Earlier it was just him going backwards amd taking me along with him. But now I pushed forward bit by bit earning an approving smile from him. After 10 more minutes, we were moving completely in sync around the arena. I saw the rest of the boys laughing and playing around and it made me smile automatically.

"Okay now I'll slowly leave your hand."

My head snapped to Sunghoon in alarm.

"Just a little bit! I'll keep my hands outstretched and you can hold on whenever you want. If you fall?" He asked tentatively.

"You'll catch me." I finished.

"Good" He said and slowly left my hand.

I tried to balance myself in the same speed imagining I was still holding his hand. I was nervous but I did not fall. I looked at Sunghoon excitedly and he nodded. He came to my side and my hand.

"Now, you follow my lead." He said and increased his speed a bit. I pushed myself forward along with him and I was really proud of myself. We both went around the arena hand in hand, waving at the rest of the boys. Niki cheered me on and Heesueng praised my quick learning. Just when I thought I could hold on my own, a stranger whipped past me from behind and I stumbled over. I was prepared to have my face plastered on the ice but Sunghoon caught me in a split second.
