The next day, everyone was out at the venue with their rehearsals. They were working so hard for this. Even last night I had just received a call from Heeseung saying that they'll be late and I shouldn't stay up waiting for them. That was at 10 PM. I had stayed up till 11:30 until I dozed off. And right at 7 AM today, they were gone again.
Sunghoon and Jay had stopped by the room to check up on me. Both of them apologized profusely for leaving me alone for so long and still asking me to come with them.
When I still refused, Jay flew into instructions of not opening the door for anyone and if I ordered food, to call him first before taking it in. I had thought my mother was persistent. But turned out Jay was even more so.
And well, I didn't call him. I could obviously see through the peephole that the person had food with him. Result? Jay himself called me at 3 PM to scold me for eating so late. When I nervously told him that I had eaten, I think not even God could've saved me from the angry outburst he had. It took a good 5 minutes of repeated apologies and a promise to call him every hour to get him to stop yelling.
I didn't get as much bored as they thought I would. Whenever they did call me, how do I tell them that I sat on the balcony for so long that I lost track of time?
And my goodness the number of calls I had received in half a day was so irritating after a point. So much so that I got sick of Orange Flower. And I felt bad that I wanted to cringe every time the bridge of the song echoed in the room.
By 10 PM, all of them were back. And I got to see firsthand how draining their official rehearsals could be. And seeing that, I felt bad for being annoyed with their repeated calls. They had taken time during their breaks to check up on me instead of resting.
And that realization came when Heeseung came to kiss me goodnight.
"Hey, princess. How was your day?" He leaned on the door frame. He was slurring like he was half drunk.
"Mine was good. But you don't look well." I moved aside and beckoned him in.
"Nah. I just came to see you for a while." He said.
His face looked sunken and tired.
"You know you can sleep here, right?"
He was barely hanging onto the doorframe and was starting to scare me with how fatigued he looked.
"Hmm? Oh yeah. I know. Some other day when I'm not half dead." He winked. Or tried to.
Now I felt bad for my irritation with the calls. And I couldn't help but word it out.
"I'm so sorry, Heeseung." I said sadly.
At once his eyes became alert. He snapped straight from the doorframe. All slurry speech was gone "Sorry? What for? What happened?"
"Nothing."
I stood on my toes and pressed my lips to his. He froze for a split second and I drew back.
"Go and sleep." I said gently.
"Wait, no!" He said hastily. "I wasn't ready."
He came in and shut the door behind him.
"Another one please?"
And how could I say no when he gave me those wide bambi eyes. I chuckled and connected our lips again. This time he hummed in satisfaction.
"I'm not that tired. I can stay here tonight." He said with full conviction.
"No. We are not doing anything, Hee." I warned him.
