It was cloudy. The gentle breeze whipped through my hair. My favorite weather. I hated sunny and rainy days. Though I won’t complain if it rains heavily and I don't have to walk on wet ground. Having a thunderstorm outside when you're in a dry and comfortable space was my all-time comfort. I wished I could stand on the edge of the building. With no other buildings in front of it, the corner gave the experience of almost being in the forest. I cursed at the new net they had attached to the window. I could no longer lean outside the window or even lean on the window without getting my hair stuck to the net.
"Leah, close the window. Else the room won't cool down." The teacher told me from the doorway.
I begrudgingly closed the window. There are only 4 people and God knows why they won't take the other windows. Why argue over the AC temperature when you can have the air from outside? And even the internet doesn't work properly with closed windows.
Yesterday was too overwhelming. I was still reeling from the realization that I loved all of them. And it was hard to believe. At times like these when I was troubled about something, I only ever called Sanu for advice. But she was caught up in her own project. Why was the project going so damn long?
I shifted to my downloaded songs instead. It was about time the bell rang and I could leave. The rolling dark clouds and the trees whipping around in the air were too tempting.
I remember dashing out of the door as soon as it did. I remember hurrying through the stairs and reaching the ground floor. And I remember the figure standing opposite the college gates.
Sunoo.
My eyes widened in alarm and shock. He was waving at me with a big smile on his face. And I didn't guess that through his crinkling eyes. I saw the smile. That damn idiot wasn't wearing a mask. And I felt Flash's soul possess me. One second I was in front of the gates and another second I slapped my scarf on his face. He groaned and laughed at the same time. Was that even possible?
"Where's your mask?" I demanded.
"Here here." He fished it out of his pocket and wore it.
"Happy?" His eyes crinkled but I rolled mine."As if it's for my benefit. What are you doing here by the way?" I asked him.
"Waiting for you. Isn't that obvious?" He adjusted his cap.
"Yeah. But why? How did you come here? Does everyone know you're here?" My mind went to Heeseung. The last time he came, he did not tell anyone. I did not scold him because I thought he was capable of taking care of himself. But this giggling boy on the other hand?
"Let's go." He said and took my hand in his.
"Where?" I asked.
"Don't know. I didn't plan anything. And I booked an Uber here, to answer your question."
I gave up. Half the reason was not many people had come to the college. They were still attending extra classes.
"What places do you have here? Anywhere we can go?" He asked me.
I thought for a while.
"Good places here...oh we have a rooftop Cafe nearby.""Then lead the way."
And I did. We walked together to the main road and then crossed it through the metro station. And then to the Cafe. Which was a 10-minute walk by the way. Which was 10 mins of me being on high alert for the traffic.
On a normal day, I would hum along to the tune in one of my ears and walk on high speed. But today I had to look out everywhere. And as expected, Sunoo was very much alien to this kind of traffic. I had to drag him by his hand.
