Leah's hair whipped around her face in the strong wind. Sunoo had made sure it wouldn't fall out of place with any movement. There were so many intricate braids covered with golden hair glitter. A Sci-fi princess, Jake had called her. And Sunoo couldn't have been more proud.
They were having the time of their lives. Not because they were in a beautiful grass field. But because of her. Seeing her huge smile as they performed Orange Flower, Not for Sale, and 10 Months, brought them joy. They've performed it dozens of times. Always giving it their best. They knew even with the cute vibe of it, fans fall for their charm. And they took pride in that ability.
But performing for Leah was different. They didn't have to try hard, and it was for a good reason. They were happy themselves. Their movements were fluid, almost natural. It had a more private feeling to it. A better bond with the music when she was in front of them. They were dancing because they loved it. And they loved their spectator.
Leah held Jake's camcorder just for the sake of it. She just made sure that the camera captured them correctly. But she was seeing them in real-time. Why would you want to look through the camera when you are present in the moment? She'd seen them practice for a whole month now. But she loved how carefree and happy they looked at the moment.
All smiles and giggles; grins on their faces as they faced each other during any part of the choreo; winks and teasing glances when they faced her. She was inside that fairytale world she had always dreamt of.
Sunghoon tripped over something and Niki's hand shot out to grab his collar. He hoisted him upright while laughing. Sunghoon looked shocked himself but shrugged it off just as quickly as he pouted at her while dancing.
He's enjoying the trip too. Leah thought fondly.
It wasn't a flaw in her eyes. It was just them not caring about looking presentable in front of the multiple cameras. When they were done with 10 months, they dispersed. Leah clapped loudly. Polaroid Love started to play from the speakers.
Jungwon hugged her from the side. He kissed her cheek making her giggle. She took her bag off and took out the speakers. The volume was significantly louder now. Probably could be heard from a distance. But no security meant they could do whatever they wanted. The place was almost empty. It was almost New Year and people preferred the city to the outskirts.
Niki took the bag from her and wore it on one shoulder, laughing at how ridiculously small it looked on him. Jake took her hand and they both walked around while swinging their arms like kids. But Jay suddenly started to sing along with the song. And everyone joined in with their verses.
Leah hummed along with with them. And then Heeseung's voice fell in her ears.
When you call my name...
He was singing too. But in a softer tone. And because he was closer to her, she did hear him. And for a second the smile became sober. A touch of sadness in the fairytale. And between the greenery and all the smiling faces, sadness hit her like a truck. She missed Heeseung, a lot. She was sad and angry, yes. But she missed him.
And before her mood spiraled down even more, Sunoo was there in front of her with a huge cheeky smile on his face. He had made a flower crown. So many little purple and white flowers tied and woven together like a headband.
"For you, my heart." He whispered.
And just like that, the sadness washed away and Leah was back in the happy moments of her fairytale. Sunoo gently put the crown on her head, then kissed her hand. If it was possible for a heart to overflow with love, then maybe Leah's would've.
"A garden fairy now." Jake nudged her.
Leah covered her mouth while blushing. Sunghoon smiled at her form. She left Jake for a while and dragged Sunoo away to the cluster of flowers to pick something for everyone else.
