"She's responding well. There's no problem with her. But being in a coma is always heavy on the brain. So her memories and thoughts will be incoherent for some time before they get back to normal."

"So that's why she didn't recognize me?" Jake asked her.

"Precisely. But she found you familiar and called your name, right? It's almost like being affected by anesthesia. I would suggest you give her a few minutes before you go in."

Everyone nodded. But the doctor's face became more serious.

"Now the test results will come in some time and hopefully all the drugs in her system will be out. But..." she paused.

"...she might have some side effects of it."

"Side effects? Like what?" Heeseung asked her.

"That's the thing, we don't know. Each person reacts differently to these medications. So we have no idea what she might face. It's almost like withdrawals. It can range from feeling extremely cold or hot to insomnia, sensory overload, or even hallucinations."

"Then..." Jay trailed off. Not knowing what to say.

"She will need some support while she goes through this. But just make sure not to tell her beforehand. Such information can cause undue stress or even a phantom effect. The best you can do is stay with her."

I held my phone upto my ear as I spoke to my mother.

"Yeah. My phone fell in the water so I gave it for repair...I know you were worried...sorry...actually I tried keeping you a message but it didn't go through-"

She abruptly cut the call in anger. I sighed. I had already texted Sanu that I was fine. I went to the bedroom and sat down on the bed.

Niki had left a few minutes ago when Jake had called him. I did feel really bad for Jake when Niki glared at him so hard with murder in his eyes. Jake apologized to me for interrupting and whisked him away.

I looked at all the unread messages on my phone. I didn't have the energy to go through all of them. I did not want to stay here for the night. But I was afraid how everyone would react if I said so. But my only comfort was the thought that Sunoo would be beside me. I was used to him to the point that when I slept at my home, the lack of him made me shiver.

The creaked open and I saw Sunghoon standing there.

"Can I come in?" He asked me

"Why ask, Hoonie?" I answered him.

I stood up to face him. He closed the door behind him and came to me.

"How do you feel?" He asked.

"As good as I can be at the moment." I said.

"No pain anywhere?" He asked again.

"Nope."

And I understood why he was confirming it twice. He lifted me up and nudged my head with his. I was so used to this that it didn't surprise me anymore. I merely put my arms around his neck and pulled up a bit to have a better position in his hold.

"You've lost weight." He muttered.

"Less work for you." I said.

"I'm not joking." He said sternly.

"So you're here to return the favor of me calling you a panda?" I asked jokingly.

Sunghoon pressed his lips on my head.

"No." He whispered.

My joking demeanor was gone now. I drew back a little to look at his face. There was a shadow of sadness in his eyes.
