My eyes drifted open unwillingly. All sleep was gone from them. I sighed in relief at the lack of headache. But my head felt warm. A huge hand was resting on top of my head.

I saw Jake sleeping next to me. If it wasn't for him, I might've collapsed in the living room yesterday. I slowly moved his hand off of me and sat upright. Judging by how hot my head was, he must not have moved his hand for a long time. My heart swelled with gratitude at the thought. I put the covers back on him.

I gently got down the bed to not wake him up. After a quick fresh up, I went to the living room. But it was deserted. I checked my phone and saw that it was 6 AM. No wonder it was so quiet.

I looked at the stack of my books neatly arranged on the dining table. But there was something on top. I picked up the small white paper that rested on the stack.

Stay away from these books for a while, my Lee. I can't see you falling sick because of them.

I smiled at the crying emoji below the lines. I put it back on the stack and turned to the kitchen. I wasn't in the mood to hyperventilate about the exam. So I resorted to making breakfast for everyone. In the absence of any batter of any kind of Indian breakfast, my only option was bread and eggs. I already knew where everything was so I quickly got to work.

I put my headphones in one ear and started humming along as I worked. Because making breakfast for 7 hungry people was no small task. I did not know how long it had been until someone tapped my shoulder. I flinched ever so slightly and turned around to see Jay's worried face peering down at me.

"Oh, good morning Jay." I chirped and smiled at him.

He was saying something but I couldn't exactly hear him. My hands were not clean so I turned my face to the side to show him my headphones.

"Can you please?" I asked him.

He took the airpod out of my ear.

"Sweetheart, what are you doing? How are you? How's your headache?" He rambled his questions.

"I'm all good, Jay. See?" I wiggled my body around a bit but he looked skeptical.

"And what the fuck are you doing?" He looked pointedly at the counter.

"Making breakfast for you people." I said.

"That I can see. But you don't have to." He shook his head.

I sighed and washed my hands. Jay looked pleased that I was listening to him. Until I dragged him to the counter and made him sit on one of the chairs.

"You sit here. And let me finish my work."

I turned back to walk away but Jay did not sit still. He stood up again to follow me and I whirled around.

"Park Jay. Sit Down." I pointed at the chair.

And just like that he collapsed back into the chair with a stunned expression. And I saw from the corner of my eye that a small smile broke in his face.

I finished my work quickly while humming a random tune and Jay just sat there looking over. He hadn't spoken a word for a long time. I cleaned up the counter and nodded at how spotless it was.

"Why are you so quiet?" I asked him.

"Just seeing. Never had anyone else cook in my presence." He shrugged.

"Why not delegate some of it to me from now on?" I asked him.

"You can help." He said.
"How are you feeling though? I wanted to make you soup or something but here you are."
