"Honey..."

"..."

"Don't be angry."

"..."

"I'm really sorry."

"..."

Minda was at a loss. While in the bath he had fallen asleep and his fever spiked causing Kai to panic and rush to lower his fever. After two days, it finally subsided and Minda felt better overall but Kai had become extremely quiet. He didn't ignore him and still meticulously cared for Minda but he hadn't said a word all day.

"Honey, I love you. Do you love me?" Minda asked hoping to get some kind of answer. Kai turned to look at him, leaned over, and...

Muah*

Without saying a word he simply gave Minda a fleeting kiss at the corner of his lips. Minda touched the place Kai had kissed him. The lingering heat of Kai's lips quickly faded leaving him feeling cold and regretful.

"I know I shouldn't have put myself at risk and gone to see Mao. I'm really sorry. Honey, I promise not to be so reckless again in the future." Minda said as a tear slid down his pale cheek.

Kai tried to stay firm in his decision to punish Minda for his reckless actions. Despite what he intended, Kai couldn't ignore Minda when he noticed he had started to cry.

"Sigh... MinMin, don't cry. I'm not angry with you."

"Then why have you been refusing to talk to me? I... sniff... I already said I'm sorry and I promise to never do it again."

"It's difficult for me to believe that you'll keep your promise."

"Why can't you trust me? I really mean it. I won't be so reckless or stupid and do anything to put myself in danger again. I'll be obedient and listen." Minda exclaimed feeling wronged.

"I know and trust you when you say that you'll try to keep your promise, but I also believe you're likely to underestimate the situation once more, which could put you in danger without you realizing it. When I think that next time things could end badly it terrifies me." Kai honestly explained.

Minda's eyes went wide. At first he wanted to refute, but when he thought about it he couldn't deny that what Kai feared might actually happen.

"I'm sorry, I'll work on being more careful and I won't do anything without discussing it with you first." Minda promised but Kai still had his doubts.

One of the main reasons was because he knew Minda. He wasn't someone who often thought of the consequences of his actions and would often do things that put himself at risk. Even when preparing for the wedding he often hurt himself trying to walk. It was very distressing but it was also one of the many reasons Mai lived Minda. So there was nothing he could do.

"I know." Kai said. He then kissed the corner of a Minda's reddened eye before tucking him back under the blankets.

"Honey, will you forgive me?" Minda anxiously asked as he stared at Kai who was moving away.

"I forgive you. Now hurry up and go back to sleep. Kang should be here the day after tomorrow." Kai said. Minda understood and made himself comfortable in bed as he watched Kai packing there valuables in the new bags they had gotten for their travels.

These bags were large but made of a durable waterproof material. Perfect for traveling on horseback. Although they were a bit heavy, the horses wouldn't have a problem carrying them. They were only some of the things Kai had been busy arranging over the last few days. Now all that was left was waiting for their escort Kang and ensuring Minda was healthy enough to travel.
