Chapter 102: Rest

It didn't take long for Kai to finish unloading the carriage. Once done he quickly called over a few slaves and had them take the horses and laundry away to wash and care for.

"MinMin, do you want to eat or take a bath first?"

"..."

"MinMin?"

At some point Minda had curled up and fallen asleep on the sofa. With tender eyes Kai debated moving him to the bed or waking him up. Feeling cautious, Kai walked over and first checked Minda's forehead.

"He doesn't feel hot." Kai thought, a feeling of relief washing over him. Minda had been feeling unwell and his fever only just broke. To be careful Minda slept most of the days away in the carriage by his side and he had improved a lot but it was obvious Minda was still feeling ill.

"Let's get the bath ready first before waking him." Kai decided after some thought.

The tub was placed behind a screen not far from the fire. It wasn't as large as anything Minda was used to but he would be able to submerge most of his thin delicate body in it. Preparing the bath was no easy task. Kai grabbed every pot they had and started boiling the water.

"It's been a long time but Minda will appreciate a medicinal bath." Kai thought as he poured the fragrant herbs into the hot water. Kai stuck his hand in to stir the herbs around and noticed the water was already starting to cool. Anticipating the problem Kai had more water boiling.

"MinMin, the bath is ready." Kai coaxed. His voice was sweet and tender as he shook Minda awake.

"Bath?"?Minda called out in a hoarse voice. The sound struck at Kai's heart knowing he was still feeling unwell.

"The bath is warm and ready for you." Kai whispered as he pulled Minda into his arms.

"I want a bath." Minda said still in a daze.

"It isn't large but you can soak for awhile and I'll wash your hair." Kai said as he began to undress the sleepy Minda. Still tired Minda's eyes remained shut but his nose started to wrinkle at the vaguely familiar sent.

Sniff*

"Medicine?"

"It will help relieve your built up strain and exhaustion." Kai explained.

"Mmmm." Minda hummed in response as he leaned against him. Kai lifted his naked body up and walked him over to the bath.

Achoo!

Just as he was about to lower Minda into the tub a draft blew through the hut and chilled Minda's bare body. In a panic Kai hurriedly placed him in the water. Unfortunately, his upper body was still exposed and Kai could see the large goosebumps covering Minda's delicate skin. He moved the screen in hopes of blocking the draft coming through the walls and started to pour hot water across Minda's body to warm him.

"Cold... Sniffle." Minda complained as he crouched down low in the bath.

"I'll add more hot water." Kai said as he scooped the freshly boiled water unit the tub. It helped and Minda felt a little better but his exposed shoulders still felt cold. Being as careful as possible Kai tried his best to massage and warm Minda's body as he washed away the grime from the previous days.

"Better?" Kai asked when he felt Minda's tense shivering body relax.

"Yes."

Kai new he was tired and didn't bother him with any other questions. As Minda fell asleep in the tub Kai thoroughly washed and massaged his aching body. Even his hair was carefully washed and dried without disturbing him.
