Chapter 91: Bo Chen

"Honey, I'll unpack this. You should bring Gen his stuff." Minda said as he stood up and took the bandages they just bought from Kai.

"Are you sure?" Kai asked.

"Of course. I might not be able to do much but I can at least do this." Minda said. He tried to say it in a lighthearted tone but Kai could tell he was feeling a little bitter.

"Are you okay, MinMin?" Kai asked as he wrapped his arms around Minda's thin trembling waist. He hadn't been standing long but it was clear Minda was already finding it difficult to stand up.

"I'm fine."

"MinMin, tell me what's wrong."

"It's really nothing."

Kai knew he was lying because of the way he kept squirming and fidgeting in his arms. Determined to find out what was bothering Minda Kai lifted him up and sat him on the carriage next to the open chest full of medical supplies.

"Tell me." Kai asked in a deep stern voice. Minda wasn't afraid of his intimidating tone because his eyes were still full of kindness.

"Everyone looks so busy today. Much more than previously and I was just thinking about how I should also be helping." Minda shyly replied. Kai softly kissed Minda's forehead.

"You do help. You cook and so much more."

"But..."

"Leave the fighting to the soldiers." Kai said. He knew what Minda meant when he said he wanted to help but there really wasn't much Minda could do.

"I know." Minda said as he took out another bag of bandages from the basket and placed it in the medicinal chest.

"Put these away while I go bring Gen his supplies. When I come back we have the meeting and can talk to General Lei about possible jobs you and I can do to help." Kai said before taking the rest of the items and leaving to find Gen.

"I've caused him trouble again." Minda thought as he watched Kai walk away. He knew he was being unreasonable when he said he wanted to do more. He was already doing more than he ever did living with his family. Even so, he couldn't stop himself.

"When he comes back I'll tell him to forget about it. I don't have to do more. In fact I'd probably just get in the way." Minda thought with a great deal of regret.

As Minda quickly put everything away Xianli and Huan appeared by his feet.

"Hey you two, where have you been? I've been worried" Minda said to the two snow leopards as they rubbed their furry little bodies against his legs.

"Sorry, that's my fault. I've been playing with them over there." A strange man suddenly said. Minda quickly turned around and stared suspiciously at the man. He looked to be in his late thirties, tall, handsome, and with clearly defined muscles.

"Huan, on guard." Minda commanded. He didn't know who the man was but a little voice inside his head told him to be on guard.

Huan did exactly as he was trained. His hair puffed up and his back was arched upwards in a menacing stance as he growled. Even the lazy Xianli stood on guard and exposed his sharp teeth at the strange man they were previously playing with.

"Whoa! I said I was sorry. No need to go on the attack. Hahaha!" The man nervously said as he took a step back.

"I don't know who you are but you need to move away or I'll give these two the signal to attack. And let me tell you they may look small but my husband has trained them to be vicious killers." Minda said his fingers pressed together ready to snap at any second.
