On his way back Minda couldn't help but frown. His leg had started to throb and he was finding it hard to muster the strength to stand let alone walk.
"Why is it so far away?" Minda cursed as he looked into the distance. The hut they were currently staying in was still far away. He looked around thinking maybe he could sit somewhere and rest but the road was empty with no place to sit except the muddy ground.
"Should I sit on the ground? But I feel like once I go down I won't be able to get back up again." Minda thought with a deep sigh. He tried shifting his weight to his other leg to relieve the pressure. It helped for less than a minute before Minda started to feel dizzy from the discomfort. He could no longer bare the pain and fell to the ground. A passing soldier saw him fall and curiously walked over.
"Sir, do you need help?" The soldier tentatively asked as he walked over. It wasn't hard for him to recognize Minda as the General's guest director his long silvery gray hair. Minda looked up and with moist eyes and an aggrieved voice spoke to the soldier.
"My husband, Kai... Sniff."
The soldier was stunned. Minda's appearance was pitiful and was strangely alluring. After gulping and adjusting his posture the soldier looked away feeling a bit guilty.
"Should I carry you back?" The soldier asked.
"No... I want my husband." Minda said. He didn't like the idea of being carried by someone other than Kai. The soldier understood and chose to go and find Kai.
"Do you know where your husband is?"
"I don't know."
"I see... I'll check by the hut you are staying at first and ask around if anyone has seen your husband." The soldier said before running off.
Minda was once again left alone on the side of the road. His knee hurt and his mood was low. As he sat there he recalled what Mao had said. Feeling depressed Minda wanted to curl up in bed and cry.
...
"MinMin, what do you want to eat?" Kai asked the moment he walked in the hut. He was covered in a thick layer of sweat and a little out of breath.
"..."
"MinMin?" Kai called out again when he didn't get a response. His eyes glanced around in search of Minda. When he still couldn't see him Kai started to worry.
"Maybe he went to the bathroom." Kai thought as he hurried out to check the toilet. When he walked over he noticed it was empty.
"Where is he? He couldn't have gone far." Kai wondered. His pace quick as he walked around the area in search of Minda.
"Sir Kai!" A soldier suddenly called out. Kai looked at the man who was slightly out of breath. A feeling of dread washed over him when he thought of how Minda was missing and a soldier had come looking for him.
"What's wrong?" Kai asked a little panicked.
"Your husband seems to be feeling unwell and is asking for you." The soldier quickly answered. Kai's eyes widened and he felt his chest tighten.
"Where is he?!" Kai nearly screamed.
"Not far. If you follow this road you'll..."
The soldier couldn't finish his words before Kai dashed past him. He didn't know why Minda was so far from the hut or what had happened. Running at top speed Kai soon found Minda laying on the ground.
"MinMin!" Kai shouted. Hearing his voice Minda looked up. His eyes red and face pale from the pain.
"Honey." Minda called out. Right away Kai fell to Minda's side and started checking his body for any injuries.
