Twice a week, Y/N and Steve attend a course to improve their relationship. On Mondays, they have counseling sessions; on Fridays, they participate in various team-building exercises. While Lucky Charm genuinely wants to make things better, the soldier doesn't seem to go along with it.
As the week begins, the two are once again seated across from each other, with the counselor sitting nearby.
"I... really want us to get along." Y/N says. "We don't need to be friends, but... can we at least try to work this out?"
After sharing their feelings on the matter, Y/N speaks with an open heart—unlike his teammate. As usual, the soldier doesn't appear enthusiastic.
"And I want to be the leader... but I guess we can't all have our cake and eat it too." Steve mutters.
"Steve, isn't there anything that would make you more cooperative?" The counselor asks.
"Like I said—I want to be the leader." Steve repeats firmly.
Y/N sighs quietly. "You know that if you were the leader, the team wouldn't like it." Despite the honesty in his words, Steve doesn't flinch. "You've already burned too many bridges to be respected as a leader."
"That's not my issue." Steve replies coldly.
That's when he glances at the clock, noticing their 30 minutes are up. He stands up. "Guess I'll see you this Friday."
"Steve." Y/N says softly, wanting him to stay and talk it out. But the blond turns and leaves.

Later that day, Y/N has dinner with his teammates and friends, Tony and Thor. While the canteen is filled with students, only the three of them share a table. After Y/N updates them about the situation with Steve, he gets mixed responses.
"You should just kick him off the team." Tony comments casually. "No one liked him anyway. Nothing lost."
Thor frowns at his friend. "I disagree. Steve is a worthy warrior and a friend. We must treasure those who stand beside us."
Tony gives the Asgardian a confused look. "Okay, can you stop with the poetic crap? You talk like you're a god or something."
"I am one." Thor replies, dead serious.
Tony stares at him for a second, then turns to Y/N. "Am I getting stupid, or have I lost the ability to detect jokes?"
Y/N cuts in, clearly not amused. "Tony, Steve's our teammate. If there's a chance to fix things, I don't want you mocking him."
"Hey! I was taking your side!" Tony scowls. "Fine then, count me out next time you need help."
Y/N sighs. As he pokes at his dinner, he scans the cafeteria. Amid the sea of students, he spots a few familiar faces. Wanda and Pietro are sitting with some of the other mutants. Natasha is deep in conversation with Bruce. But Steve is nowhere in sight. Then it hits him—someone else is missing too.
"Where's Clint?"
"I noticed his absence as well." Thor replies. "I once asked him about it. It seems Clint prefers solitude. A lone wolf, if you will."
Y/N hums thoughtfully. "Still, where does he go?"
"Usually, back to his chamber." Thor answers.
While Clint's tendency to keep to himself is nothing new, completely avoiding people he's expected to work with all year is a different level of isolation.
