With the winter holidays arriving, many of the students of the X-Mansion went home, though some stayed behind. This included the teachers, like the art teacher, Piotr, and his partner—both in life and in the job—Y/N.
Together with some of the other teachers and staff members, as well as a few students who had no home to celebrate the holidays, the group set up a Christmas tree. With snow falling outside in the dark, everyone was happy to be inside, warm and cozy.
As the group hung Christmas ornaments, a sudden shatter echoed through the room. Everyone looked back to see Piotr, standing awkwardly as shards of glass fell around him.
"Not again." Logan sighed. "Maybe lay off anything breakable, metal guy?"
"My apologies." Piotr said honestly, already backing away. "I thought I could handle something fragile."
Bobby instantly saw an opportunity to take a jab. "Why? Because you handle your boyfriend so well in bed?"
Everyone, especially the couple, glared at Bobby.
"You sure feel at home here, huh, Bobby Drake?" Y/N comments. "Still, you're a student. Wouldn't want to get detention now, would we?"
Bobby looked alarmed and backed off. "I didn't mean—uhm—well..." He awkwardly laughed. "It was more a compliment than anything."
The couple continued to stare at him, disappointed, causing him to fall silent.
After a while, everything was set. With the Christmas lights now on the tree and roofs, it was time to start the holidays. Charles addressed the group, speaking to those he viewed as the future.
"It's always wonderful that despite many of us being X-Men members and teachers, as well as a couple of students, we are more than that. We are friends, even family, and people we can trust. And even after many years of mutant rights struggles, fights with The Brotherhood, or the odd student here and there, I'm glad we have another opportunity to spend time together during times like these."
Charles looked at each member of the group, a big and proud smile on his face.
"Let's celebrate these special days together, whether Christmas, Hanukkah, or New Year. Now, Scott, would you do the honors and put on the lights?"
"Of course, Mr. Xavier."
Scott, with a soft smile, walked over to the large bundle of wires. With the Christmas lights and the ones outside on the roof connected, he just needed to connect the final plug. As he grabbed both ends and joined them, the entire room went black.
Multiple yelps of shock echoed through the room as Scott's body stiffened from the shock. Phones were quickly pulled out, flashlights turned on, and there was Scott on the ground, his body tense.
"S-Scott!?" Jean ran over, crouching down to check his pulse. Hank was quick to join her.
"Is he alright!?" Kitty asked, panicked.
"He isn't dead, right!?" Bobby added in the same tone.
Hank looked up. "He's alive, but let's bring him to the med bay. Logan, help me."
With Logan's help, Hank lifted Scott, moving quickly toward the med bay, with Jean and Ororo joining to comfort their shaken friend.
Right before Piotr and Y/N joined, alongside some of the students, Charles looked back at the remaining group.
"How about you all stay here? Try to fix the power. Also, please remain calm. Scott is in good hands." With a knowing nod, Charles turned and left the living room.
