Almost Is Never Enough

Chapter 16

They both ran after you. "It wasn't even that bad!" Jay shouted after you.

You turned around, your eyes red and puffy and your face tear streaked from crying. "Just leave me alone," you said to Jay.

You turned back around and continued to get away from the both of them. Jay and Nath grabbed you and pulled you into hugs. "I know it wasn't just what Nathan said." Jay whispered, "what's wrong?"

"What's wrong?! You're seriously asking me that? Try everything. Everything has fucking gone wrong, Jay! Just go, leave me alone," you were still crying.

Nathan wrapped his arms around you, kissing your cheek. "Love, we don't want you to cry. You are the most amazing person, and we'll help you through whatever has gone wrong," he said. You continued to cry as Nathan held you in his arms, you were unable to look him in the eye yet.

Jay stood there, unsure of what to do. His eyes were equally, if not redder from crying. "What's honestly wrong, babe?" Jay asked.

You continued to look down at the ground. "...everything," you whispered through sobs.

"Elaborate," Jay whispered, wrapping his arms around you, leaving you sandwiched between him and Nath.

You looked up at Jay, as Nathan was behind you. "What is there to elaborate on? Everything is so fucking screwed up! So why bother? Why don't both of you just leave?" You asked.

"What the hell are you saying?" Nathan said.

"All I'm saying is that my life has been so messed up lately. I've been shot, Jay's tried to commit suicide and has been poisoned, I've been in a car accident, you're going through emotional trauma because of me, and everyone else has been so unhappy because of all the trouble I've caused. So why don't you just go? Wouldn't I be better off alone? I can't hurt anybody." You said.

"DON'T YOU DARE EVER SAY THAT AGAIN!" Nathan yelled. "We love you so much that we'll go through all of that shit and more for you. Why don't you understand how much we love you?!"

"BECAUSE I DON'T UNDERSTAND!" You yelled at him. "And I'll say it a thousand times because its all true! It's all fucking true and if I was never here then none of this would've ever happened! Do you even realize that?!"

"Do you even realize that I'd be dead if it wasn't for you?!" Jay screamed, as everyone fell silent.

"What?" You asked him. He averted your gaze, tears falling down his face. You moved over to Jay and lifted his head up to look you in the eyes. "...Jay?"

"You don't understand," he sobbed.

"You'd be surprised at what I can understand...I was like you...three years ago. I wanted to kill myself, overdose on pills. I have my battle scars to prove it too," you said, showing him your thighs. He saw your thighs and began to kiss them, every single one of your scars.

"You're too beautiful for that," he whispered.

"And you're too worthy for these," you said, pointing at his wrists. "So why would you kill yourself? You've got everything out there for you, Jay."

"You're both amazing and deserve to live," Nathan said, "and I love you both."

"And I understand why I'm living now." You said to both of them with a sincere smile. "What about you Jay? What's your story?"

"I love you both. You are my strength, along with the rest of the band and the fanmily."

"So why would you even think about killing yourself in the first place?" Nathan asked.
