Almost Is Never Enough
Chapter 132
"Where are we going Nath?" You asked as he drove.
"Somewhere where the paps won't see us," he said.
You nodded your head as he continued driving. He reached over and held your hand, smiling. You smiled back at him and let him hold your hand the whole way. Once you finally arrived, you looked at Nathan, confused. "Nath...why are we here?" You asked. He brought you to a field, similar to the one Jay brought you to.
"It's quiet," he smiled, "and it's beautiful."
You smiled at him and you both got out of the car. You held his hand as you walked through it. Nathan wrapped his arm around you as it was starting to get cold. You reached the middle of the field, and saw something odd lying on the ground. "What is that?" You asked, pointing towards it on the ground.
Nathan bent over and picked it up. It was a small wooden box, with words carved into it. "Here, you can look at it," Nathan said, handing it over to you.
You looked at it, frowning. "Because I love you," you read, confused.
Nathan shrugged. "Open it," he said.
Inside was a necklace, that looked very old. In fact everything about the whole object looked very old. There was a picture inside of a happy couple, kissing, and on the necklace was engraved "AM+JL".
"AM plus JL?" You said.
"I don't know. Guess some couple broke up," Nathan said.
"I guess so," you said, putting it back inside of the box and placing it on the ground where you found it.
"Wait a second love," Nathan said, walking away from you for a moment to another patch of grass. You followed him, confused. He stood in front of a small tombstone. You looked at the encryption. "Anne Mae....who was lost before love could find her 1950-1976"
You looked at the tombstone sadly. "AM..." Nathan whispered.
"That's her. It has to be," you said. You walked back over to where the small wooden box was and picked it up. You brought it over to the tombstone and placed it on the grave. "JL must've been about to give this to her...and then time ran out..." You said solemnly.
"Yeah," Nathan said sadly. "Maybe they're together now?"
"Maybe they are," you said, realizing how lucky you were, having two guys love you, instead of leaving this Earth not even knowing who loved you.
You both stayed there for a few more moments. "Let's go love," Nathan said, grabbing your hand.
"Wait Nath," you said. He looked confused, as you stepped close to him and pressed your lips against his gently.
Nathan smiled into it and kissed you back for a moment. You put your hands at the back of his neck, controlling the kiss, as he wrapped his arms around your waist keeping you close, safe. You broke away from him and rested your head against his chest, your arms wrapped around him. You closed your eyes, enjoying the moment. You breathed in his scent, and he held you. "I've missed you," you mumbled against his chest.
"I've missed you too," he said.
You smiled against his chest as he hugged you tighter, the temperature getting colder. He took off his jacket and slid it around you, holding you tighter. "Let's go home love. Don't want you to freeze," he said.
You smiled at him and kissed him again. "I'm really lucky to have someone like you in my life," you said.
"I'm even luckier to have you, love," Nathan said.
