Almost Is Never Enough
Chapter 66
*Meanwhile with Nathan*
Nathan was so confused. While he was stressing over you, Ariana had kissed him. He didn't know what to do anymore. He decided to get up and go to his car, going to the one place that always seemed to calm him down, the park.
He sat on the swings for a bit, turning things over in his head. He looked over to the empty swing next to him, the one you would always sit in. He smiled at the memory as his hand brushed against the seat. He was still horribly angry at you. So angry he wanted to slam a girl in the house just to piss you off. Yet, there was a part of him that knew he couldn't. Knowing how bad a heartache felt, he didn't want to wish it on anybody, including you.
"Why do I have to love her so much..." He mumbled. He leaned his head down, rocking himself back and forth on the swing. He sighed and wiped away some tears.
A little girl walked up to him. "Mr? Why are you so sad?" She asked.
Nathan looked up at the little girl and gave her a small smile. "I'm a little sad over a nice girl," Nathan said.
"If she's nice then why are you sad?" She asked.
"Because I was being a bad boy to her," Nathan said.
"Well that's not nice. You should say sorry. My mommy says sorry to everyone. Especially if you love them." The little girl said.
"Well I don't know, I don't think the nice girl likes me anymore," Nathan said.
The little girl pouted. "That's sad. I'm sowwy. Maybe you can find another princess." She said.
"That's the sad part, I don't know if I can find another princess," Nathan said.
"There's always another princess. Princesses are pretty and they're everywhere. But only if you act like a prince." She said.
"I always try to act like a prince, it's just that she's my one and only princess, like Cinderella or Jasmine," Nathan said.
"...does she have another prince?" She asked curiously.
Nathan nodded in response. "I'm sowwy Mr," the little girl said.
"It's okay. You're the only girl that likes me right now," Nathan said.
"That can't be true! You're the nicest boy ever!" The little girl said.
Nathan smiled at her. "Well thank you very much," he said.
The girl smiled at him and hugged his leg. "Maybe you need to save your princess so you can be her prince," she said, looking up at him.
"I'm trying to." Nathan said.
"You have to be brave and try harder!" The little girl said, her childish voice making Nath smile.
"I don't think I can save her anymore. She has another prince for that." Nathan said.
"But why can't you be her prince too?" The little girl asked, slightly sucking on her thumb.
"It doesn't work like that sweetie," Nathan said.
"But why not? There has to be a happy ending!" The little girl said with a pout.
Nathan smiled at her. "There is one, for her and her other prince."
"But what about yours? If she's your princess then there has to be a happy ending!" The girl said.
Nathan just looked away sadly. "I have to go now! Bye Prince...?" She said.
"Nathan." Nathan confirmed.
