Almost Is Never Enough

Chapter 37

Your hands went to the back of Jay's neck, pulling him in closer to you. You just wanted to forget everything, even if it was for a little while. He slipped in his tongue and picked you up, only to push you up against the wall. He moved his lips to your neck, sucking on your collarbone, causing you to moan.

"Not too loud babe," he whispered.

You nodded your head, just wanting him to keep going. His hands slipped under your shirt, his cold touch giving you a rush as he kissed you. You crashed your lips into his, your hands at the back of his neck as he continued to hold you against the wall.

"Jay..." You whispered, as his hands slipped under the waistband of your pants. "Jay...not here."

He took his hands away from your pants and carried you upstairs, past Nathan's room. The door was open and you could see that he looked over at you two heading for Jay's room.

'Oh dammit,' you thought, accidentally saying it out loud. Jay set you down right there, only down the hall from Nathan's room.

"What's wrong love?" Jay asked worriedly.

"Nath saw us," you mumbled. Nathan got up and went to his wall, listening in on you two.

"So what do we do? I'm not going to force you to do anything you don't want to do." Jay said.

"I want to...but not if Nath knows. I'll feel like a horrible person," you mumbled.

"You're not a horrible person. We don't have to do anything tonight if you're not up to it. We could always just go back downstairs and watch a movie together instead." Jay suggested.

"I want to. I just can't hurt Nath though." You said, walking back downstairs.

"It's okay love, maybe another time." Jay said, walking back downstairs with you.

Nathan felt terrible for being a roadblock for you. It wouldn't ever work with him living in the same house with you both. He didn't know what to do. He just wanted you to be happy, even if it was without him. He decided to walk downstairs.

He found you two back in the living room, just watching TV together. He had to tell you both this. "Hey guys," he said awkwardly.

"Hey Nath, I thought you went in for the night?" you said.

"I did...but then I saw something I wasn't supposed to see.." He said.

"What'd you see?" You asked him, a little worried.

"You and Jay...going up to his room." He said, blushing.

"Oh..." You said as you and Jay blushed.

"And I heard that you stopped because of me..." Nathan said.

"I didn't want you to feel hurt that we were going to and I saw your door open. I had a feeling you saw us, I just didn't know you heard us too." You said.

"I just-I want you to be happy...even if it's without me." Nathan said, looking down.

"Nathan...I am happy. I just don't want to hurt you anymore than I already have." You said, trying to hold back your tears that were starting to build up.

"Love, you haven't hurt me. You'll only hurt me by not being happy." Nathan said.

"Nathan, don't lie to me. I know you're hurt and you're trying to hide it. If you're not happy then tell me, I don't like it when you're trying to avoid me." You said.
