Almost Is Never Enough

Chapter 52

"You guys get whatever you want, my treat." You said.

"Thanks!" Everyone said.

"Least I can do!" You said, smiling.

Slowly but steadily, paparazzi were gathering outside of the window, in view of your table. "I got this," Tom said as he reached up and pulled down the shade, blocking their view of everyone. Everyone laughed a bit.

Jay was sitting in front of you while Nathan was sitting beside you. The waiter took your orders and left while you all made chit chat, waiting for the appetizers. Jay and you were holding hands across the table when he leaned over to kiss you.

"Aw come on. None of that," Max complained.

"Fine," you said, grinning.

Tom and Kelsey leaned over the table and did the same thing, just to piss Max off. Siva and Nareesha followed. "Shall we give it a go, Nath?" Max joked.

"Mate I love you, but no," Nathan said with a laugh.

"Aww pwease Nayf?" Max said with puppy eyes.

"No mate," Nath said. 'Besides there's only one person I want to kiss' he thought.

"No fair!" Max said childishly, causing everyone to laugh.

The drinks arrived, all of the boys getting beer, of course. "You're being really sweet about this," Jay said, holding your hand underneath the table.

"What do you mean?" You asked.

"Paying for all of our stuff. It's going to be really expensive, especially here," Jay said. He was right, you had taken everyone to a fancy restaurant.

"It's fine. You all deserve it." You said.

"Thank you," Jay said.

"No problem, Birdy," you replied.

Your appetizers arrived and they looked amazing. "Thank you...for everything," Nathan whispered in your ear.

"It's no problem," you whispered back.

He held your hand for a second and squeezed it before letting go. "You're incredible. Jay's lucky to have you." He said.

You couldn't help but smile and feel guilty all at the same time. You took his hand and squeezed it lovingly, before letting go and scooping some salad from your bowl and eating it.

You all ate your appetizers, talking every now and then. Your main course came and it smelled spectacular. "Wow, this looks amazing," Jay said, looking at his entrée. "A toast to my lovely, for this fine meal!" Jay said, raising his beer bottle. Everyone raised their glasses and bottles and clinked them together in the center. You laughed and kissed Jay on the cheek.

Once you all had finished your meals you left and walked towards the car. "That was amazing, babe," Nathan said.

"Thanks," you said, hugging him.

The paps mobbed you all.

"Did you get back together?"

"Why did he call you babe?"

"Do you realize Jay almost killed himself for you?"

"What's going on here?"

You became furious at them. "I'm with Jay, all you saw was a friendly hug. We all hug each other whether you people realize it or not. And he called me "babe" because everyone does! Now will you please excuse us all so we can leave and go home?" You said to the paps, going into the car.

"Ooh she's feisty!" One of the paps said.

Everyone shook their heads disapprovingly and went into the car. You heard one of them yell out something before you entered the car, "Pull your dress down you slut!"

Nathan had luckily shut the door behind him because you were absolutely furious. He put you back into your seat before you could get up and slap them. "Calm down," Nathan said, facing you, restraining you from slapping the shit out of them.

"No! They called me a slut!" You yelled.

"They call everyone that. They're trying to get to you, trying to make you snap and cause a scene. Trust me here, love. They aren't worth your time. You are beautiful and definitely not a slut." He said, his face inches away from yours.

"Thank you," you whispered before pecking his cheek.

Jay hugged you and then pressed his lips against yours. "You're amazing. Don't listen to those assholes," he whispered.

"I try not to, it's just hard sometimes," you said.

"I know, love," he said, wrapping an arm around you. You leaned onto Jay, your head resting on his shoulder.

Nathan was looking out the window. He couldn't look at you two at all even if he did try moving on. You looked over at him and sighed, hoping that tomorrow would work. You followed Jay out of the car with Nathan close behind you. You tripped a bit and Nathan caught you, chuckling. "Thanks Nath," you smiled.

"Like boyfriend like girlfriend," he said, laughing a bit. He noticed he was still holding you and blushed a bit. He kissed your nose before letting you go. You let out a small chuckle at his awkwardness and walked inside, Jay following behind you.

Jay wrapped his arms around your back and kissed your cheek. "It's so weird having you in my arms." He whispered, "I've been waiting for that forever...and it's finally here."

"Well forever didn't last this time because look where we are now," you said with a smile. He led you up to the room you two shared and you changed into a tank top and sweats.

"How is it possible that whether you're in a dress or sweats you still look stunning?" Jay asked.

You blushed very hard. "Well you look handsome all of time," you said. He gave you a cheeky smile before taking your hand and going downstairs.
