Almost Is Never Enough
Chapter 51
You walked into the room and were completely astonished by the sight in front of you. He'd thrown half of his things around the room. Glass was everywhere and he was standing by his closet, his fists against the wall, bleeding.
You didn't care about anyone else but Nathan in that moment. "...Nathan?" You asked, extremely scared right now.
He turned around and saw you, his eyes full of sadness. "I-I thought you had left me," he said shakily.
"I would never leave you," you said, taking careful steps towards him, still a little scared.
"A-are you scared of me?" He asked, looking down.
"I'm only scared of what you are right now..." You said.
He looked down at his bleeding hands and around his room. You walked up to him and took one of his hands in yours, studying the damage he had done. "Why would you do something like this?" You asked hesitantly.
"Because I love you," he said, looking away.
"So you would trash your room and bleed because of me? Nathan...you don't do that," you whispered.
"What do you mean?" Nathan asked. "Jay would kill himself for you. You don't think I would do something as small as this?"
"But I didn't want him to, I don't want you to either. Nathan, don't you realize you're setting yourself up for depression?" You asked.
He started crying violently and shaking. You pulled him into a hug as he cried onto your shoulder, the blood on his hands now on your clothes. He wrapped his arms around you in a strong hug. You started singing the song Jay had sung to you earlier.
"You're not alone
I'll listen till your tears give out
You're safe and sound, I swear that I won't let you down
What's hurting you I, I feel it too
I mean it when I say
When you cry, I cry with you."
His grip on you tightened a little. He shook with sobs and his tears fell on your shoulder. Nathan couldn't stop crying and shaking. He was having a mental breakdown. You just hugged him through it all, waiting for the storm to pass. "I-I'm sorry..." He whispered through his sobs.
"Don't be," you said.
You made him lie down, as he was too emotionally weak to stand up. You laid down with him and just hugged and cuddled, trying to make him stop crying. "I screw everything up..." He whispered.
"No you don't, Nath," you said.
"Yes I do...I've screwed up so many things." Nathan mumbled.
"Nathan, you are so amazing. Don't put yourself down," you whispered, kissing his cheek.
"I have every right to though..." He said, as more tears streamed down his face.
"No you don't!" You said, forcing him to look at you.
"I've screwed up both of our lives and everyone else's in this house. I put our careers in jeopardy." Nathan said.
"How Nath?" You said quietly, rubbing his arm and trying to calm him down.
"Well for one I basically pushed Jay over the edge because he almost committed suicide," Nathan muttered.
"That wasn't your fault, Nath." You said, kissing his forehead.
