Almost Is Never Enough
Chapter 120
The next morning you woke up, completely depressed with the realization that you had to leave for 3 days. You frowned once you realized that Jay wasn't next to you either. "Where is he?" You wondered. You got up from bed and went downstairs, looking for Jay.
"Hey lovely," Jay said from the kitchen.
"Hi," you said, still somewhat depressed.
"Morning," he said, kissing your forehead and handing you a daisy from the garden.
"Aww Jay you're so sweet," you said, giving him a small smile.
"I felt like a schoolboy picking that," he smiled.
"Well you practically still are one," you joked.
"True, true," he said, kissing your cheek, and presenting you with a fruit salad.
"What's with all this?" You asked.
"Just being nice..." He said, putting a hand on your lower back.
You smiled at him and leaned onto him. "I'm gonna really miss you Jay," you whispered.
"I'll miss you too...but I keep thinking about how much I'm going to hug you in three days, and it makes it all okay," he said.
You smiled at him and sat on his lap, hugging him. You rested your head in the crook of his shoulder. "I love you Jay," you said.
"I love you too babe," he said, "now eat your breakfast. I kept it light for you."
"Thank you," you said as he picked up the fork and started feeding you.
Once you were finished, you went upstairs and packed your stuff quickly. Nathan stopped outside of your door. "Ready for that walk, love?" He asked, grinning.
You zipped up your bag. "Ready," you said, walking towards him.
He held your hand and walked downstairs with you. You both walked outside into the fall air, the wind blowing in your faces. Nathan held your hand even tighter. "Let's walk this way," he smiled.
"Okay," you said, following him.
"So how are you, love?" He asked, looking at you.
"Kinda sad. I don't want to leave," you said.
"I don't want you to leave either...but it's for the best," he said.
"But what if it doesn't help me?" You asked.
"I think it will.." Nathan said, "just don't think about it okay? Live for the moment..."
You nodded your head and smiled. Jay had said the same thing last night. "So what about you?" You asked, "how are things going with Annie?"
"Pretty well I guess. We've been texting and all that almost every day," Nathan said.
"Cuties," you said, smiling.
"Oh shush," Nathan blushed.
"Why do you like her?" You asked.
Nathan wasn't going to tell you the real reason he liked Annie. "I guess because I think there's a connection there," he said.
"How?" You asked, gently swinging your entangled arms.
"I can't explain why I feel it. It's just there, and I want to see why," Nathan said.
You smiled at him and kissed his cheek. "You're cute when you're in love," you said.
Nathan smiled back at you. "You are too," he said. You bit your lip and blushed, lowering your head so he couldn't see.
