Almost Is Never Enough
Chapter 28
"The blood transfusion has been completed," the doctor said. Everyone relaxed a little.
"So is he okay now? Can we go see him?" You asked hopefully.
"Yes, you can see him. But he's still very weak," the doctor said.
"Okay, thank you so much," you said. The doctor left the room and everyone got up to go see Jay.
You were holding onto Nathan for support as you stood up and started walking. "Would you like me to get your crutches for you?" Nathan asked.
"Yes please babe," you said.
"Remember what the doctor said about flirting," Siva said. You both nodded your heads as Siva took Nathan's place to hold you up while he got your crutches.
"Who are you gonna choose?" Siva asked.
"I don't know. I feel as though I break both of their hearts no matter who I do choose," you said.
Siva nodded. "You'll have to choose soon." He said.
"I know," you said as Nathan came back with your crutches.
"Thanks Nath," you said, pecking his cheek. "Now let's go see Jaybird."
You all piled into the elevator. When you walked out and found Jay's room, you were completely shocked.
Outside of his room were dozens and dozens of flowers, cards, and balloons. "What?" You asked. "Who brought all of these in?" You asked, picking up one of the many cards.
Nathan smiled at them before answering, "It must've been the fans. They probably all heard what happened to Jay."
"So they know he self-harms?" You asked.
"They sort of knew before. Apparently some of the fans have seen scars on his wrists," Nathan said.
"Oh my god." You whispered.
"They probably felt bad for all the hate he's been getting. Must've realized what they've done and tried to make up for it," Nathan explained.
"Nothing can get rid of the scars on his wrists," you mumbled.
"No, but love can get him to stop adding on more," Nathan said.
"Obviously it didn't work. I gave him all my love, and he promised me he wouldn't do it again. But you all found him 1 day later, half-dead." You said.
"That's because for one moment, he had gotten so much hate everywhere, he forgot he was loved," Nathan said.
"I just want to see him," you sighed.
"Come on," Nathan said with a smile as he opened the door for you.
You saw Jay laying on the bed, hooked up to some wires. "Hi Birdy," you said sweetly, a smile on your face.
"Love," he smiled, reaching his arms out for a hug.
You leaned down and hugged him, kissing his cheek before standing up again. "How are you feeling, Jay?" You asked.
"Not great," Jay replied in a weak voice.
"Aww Bird!" You said. "How'd the blood transfusion go?"
"I don't even know. The doctors said I was passed out during it," Jay said hoarsely.
"Lucky they had enough blood for it," you said, unsure of whether he knew you had donated the blood.
