Almost Is Never Enough
Chapter 10
"Weeeeyyyy they're here!" Tom said as Nathan put you down in your seat. Tom plopped some Heinz beans in front of you.
"Tomtom! You made breakfast? You didn't go to McDonald's and get bagels from the trash?" You asked, laughing.
"Too far..." He said as everyone laughed.
"Enjoy yourself?" Max asked, winking.
"Maxxie, I'm in a cast and have broken ribs. Do you honestly think we did that?" You asked him with an 'Are you stupid or something?' look.
"Oh..." He said, "Then what were those noises I heard?" He asked jokingly.
"Noises?" Jay asked, slightly angry.
"Jay, I'm joking," Max clarified.
Jay returned to his breakfast, not saying another word the entire meal. You blushed as he said that he heard those supposed noises. You were pretty surprised nobody heard anything, you two weren't exactly quiet.
After breakfast, you decided to corner Jay and tell him that you told Nathan about the hospital. "Hey Jay, can I talk to you...alone?"
"Sure." He looked very nervous.
You two went outside so nobody could hear you. "So...I told Nathan." You whispered.
"What'd he say?" Jay asked curiously.
"Umm well he was really hurt...but then he sorta got over it. He said since we weren't dating, it shouldn't matter. Even though he looked more hurt than he led on..." You said.
"Nathan's always been good at hiding his emotions. So even though you guys aren't dating, it means so much more to him than you realize." Jay said.
"Yeah..." You said, unsure of whether you should tell him what happened next.
"Is something wrong baby? You look...worried." He asked.
"Ummm...." You said. "Well last night after I told him...he said that we could make it even. We made out Jay, we didn't take it any further though. I'm sorry." You looked up at him sincerely.
He bit his lip, looking hurt. "Well...I knew you two were going to do something, I almost expected it. You don't have to be sorry about anything really." He said.
"Thank god." You said, hugging him.
He hugged you back, a little uneasily. It wasn't like his normal bear hugs he always gave, it was weird. "What's wrong Jay? Why aren't you giving me one of your bear hugs?" You asked, smiling at him.
"I'm...I'm not feeling okay..." He said as he rubbed his head.
"Do you need some medicine or something?" You asked, knitting your eyebrows together.
"...no I just...need..." He collapsed right in front of you.
"Oh my god!" You screamed as you fell to your knees next to him. The other boys rushed outside when they heard you scream.
"We have to get him to a hospital! NOW!" you yelled at them. They picked Jay up and brought him to the car as you all rushed to the hospital.
They brought him in as you called ahead of time so that he could be rushed to the emergency room. The doctors wheeled him over as soon as you all arrived. Nathan hugged you, brushing tears away from your face. "Shhh he's gonna be fine." Nathan whispered.
"He j-just collapsed in fr-front of me." You said, stuttering through your sobs.
"Shhh babe I know," he said, trying to calm you down.
